Since the Star Wars license reverted to Marvel Comics, several popular artists have worked on the main title. One of those artists was Stuart Immonen, best known for his work on Amazing Spider-Man and NEXTWave: Agents of Hate.

Immonen recently posted several cover sketches for the main Star Wars title to his Twitter page. Although none of these sketches were approved, they showcase Immonen's unique style, as well as several iconic Star Wars characters.

The first sketch features Han Solo in the background, while Princess Leia argues with Luke Skywalker. The second features Darth Vader himself, with the Death Star looming in the background. Within Vader's helmet, the classic scene of Leia loading the Death Star plans into R2-D2 can be seen. The third features Jedi Master Yoda with his lightsaber ignited, ready to fight. The final cover had Luke, Han and Chewbacca drawing their weapons.

Although these sketches were not approved, Immonen's unique art style produces images that would feel just right in any Star Wars film. Fans and fellow artists, including Adam Hughes and Mahmud Asrar, took to Twitter to praise Immonen's work.

Immonen retired from comic work after illustrating Amazing Spider-Man #800, which also marked the final story arc from writer Dan Slott.
