In any video game, players are likely to encounter a ridiculously strong character. Gaming is all about escapism and fantasy, and there's no better feeling than being completely overpowered. Maybe these characters can tolerate an infinite number of hits, wield an indestructible weapon, or even possess a kind of power over others in the game.

However, certain video game characters just don't deserve their strength. Whether it's because of the effortlessness with which they exert their inhuman power, their intentions, or the realism of the game as a whole, some characters just aren't deserving of unlimited power.

Kirby Is Too Cute For Power

Kirby, who first came into existence in 1992's Kirby's Dream Land, may appear cute and small, but in reality, he's immortal and infinitely strong. He has been featured in many games over the years, usually as the protagonist, and he's almost always the most powerful character. If players can master Kirby's moves in Super Smash Bros., for instance, they'll be unbeatable. He can suck up enemies, absorbing their powers. A creature that seems so adorable does not deserve to be so strong, and disturbingly so.

Ganon Uses His Power For Evil

Ganon is the main antagonist in the Nintendo series The Legend of Zelda. He first appeared in the first installment of the series. Originally, under his human name of Ganondorf, he was a Gerudo sorcerer. He can now take on many forms, like a gigantic boar, due to his possession of the Triforce of Power.

The core of his undeserving power lies in his destiny to continually resurrect, striving for world domination. Ganon may be temporarily beaten, but he'll always return.

Sonic The Hedgehog Lets Power Go To His Head

Sega's Sonic The Hedgehog is an ultra-fast, anthropomorphic, blue hedgehog. Just by curling into a ball, he can eliminate his enemies. This gaming icon's superhuman strength is entirely reliant on his supersonic speed. With the combined power of all the Chaos Emeralds, he can move at practically light speed. This is an ability that causes him to be impatient, short-tempered, and prone to drowning. For an ability that's so flimsy, he definitely does not deserve to be as notoriously strong as he is.

Tom Nook Wields Unjust Economic Power

One of the Animal Crossing series' main characters, Tom Nook, is the manager, mayor, and landlord of the otherwise peaceful games. Tom Nook, a tanuki, poses a real threat to the player: loans. Developers noticeably softened his character in the latest installment released on the Nintendo Switch called New Horizons. In Wild World, released back in 2005, the player is forced to work for him and his monopoly. Does this unnegotiable, secretive businessman deserve to rule his own town and island?

Pacman Is Too Flat For Power

Pacman, from the old-school arcade game PAC-MAN, is too strong for a disembodied, yellow face with a big mouth. Think about it: a floating, two-dimensional creature defeats enemies by devouring them. It's all kind of mindless too, as Pacman floats around the walls of his arcade cage, eating dots and stumbling across different colored ghosts.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pacman's projectiles give him all the control. His ridiculous power makes him one of the most annoying characters to go up against in this fighting game.

Ethan Winters Gets His Strength From A Fungus

One of Resident Evil's protagonists, Ethan Winters was an unexplainably strong character in the series. Infected with biological weaponry in the form of mold back in 2017, he is temporarily imbued with inhuman strength and resilience. In Resident Evil Village players may have thought he was getting away with one too many injuries. This isn't due to his own strength or character, but a mutation. Despite the endurance of pain being unrealistic, it became clear at the end of the horror game that a fungus, not even Ethan Winters himself, was responsible.

Doomfist's Power Makes The Game Unfair

This big-fisted fighter from team-based shooter Overwatch is either a fan favorite or the most hated, there's really no in-between. Doomfist's Rocket Punches, Rising Uppercuts, and Seismic Slams are simply the most overpowered moves in Overwatch. This Damage character can also shoot pellets from his large knuckles, blasting down enemies. Doomfist is undeserving of his strength because players can manipulate his strength to eliminate a fair fight. Doomfist is banned from camping at point A in the map Eichenwalde, most probably due to the huge advantage he has over other players.

Steve Has The World At His Fingertips

Steve may not be the first video game character that comes to mind when players think of the strongest characters. Minecraft's immortal protagonist can punch down trees with his bare hands. The lack of realism here is what makes Steve so undeserving of his strength.

Steve's survival power is simply unmatched in the gaming world. With a few bits of wood, infinite crafting possibilities become available to the player. On top of this, a huge percentage of his time is spent fighting monsters, all with armor and weapons he built himself.

MewtwoUsed Its Power For Evil

This Psychic type Pokémon has been a powerful villain throughout the Pokémon series. Mewtwo was brought into existence through violent genetic science, creating a cruel and strong Pokemon. Because of this dark backstory, Mewtwo is considered one of the strongest Pokémon in the series. Due to this Pokemon's previous villain status, it's difficult to feel it deserves its strength. Especially considering how its unlimited power was primarily used for evil.

Dracula Is Powered By Hatred

dracula from castlevania artwork

Like a lot of the strongest video game characters, Dracula from Castlevania is immortal. He's the final boss of almost every Castlevania game, fought off over thousands of years by the Belmont clan. Sometimes known as Vlad Tepes, Dracula's personality is generally devoid of empathy, marked by an enduring hatred of humanity. For an immortal vampire, his strength can feel undeserving, especially as he eventually gets slain by the last descendant of the Belmonts in 1999 after all those generations of fighting.
