Shazam was once the most popular superhero in America, back when he was called Captain Marvel. Imbued with the power of the Wizard Shazam, he's strong enough to punch it out with Superman, fast enough to race the Flash, can take loads of damage, is wise beyond his years, and has magic lightning to boot. Shazam is one of the purest heroes on the planet, as well as one of the most powerful.
If he went up against the most powerful villains of Marvel, even the most potent would fall before his mystical might. He may be young but he's definitely that good.
10 The Crimson Dynamo Would Be Quickly Rendered Into Scrap
The Crimson Dynamo is one of Iron Man's longest-running foes. Russia's answer to the Armored Avenger, many have worn the suit of Crimson Dynamo and all of them have fallen to Tony Stark. That doesn't really bode well for the Crimson Dynamo against Shazam. Shazam, just from a strength standpoint, is way stronger than Iron Man and could break through Dynamo's armor with one punch.
He's also much faster and, if that wasn't enough, has the lightning of Zeus to use. He'd easily overwhelm Crimson Dynamo and the fight would pretty much only last as long as he wanted it to, as any of his attacks would be enough to destroy the armor.
9 Ulik The Troll Is A Better Fighter But That Wouldn't Save Him
Ulik the Troll has been battling Thor for a long time. He once even posed as the God of Thunder and is as strong and durable as they come, able to take repeated blows from Mjolnir. Ulik is much older than Shazam, with greater experience and fighting skill, but Shazam has him licked in every other category by a ridiculous extent, which will make all the difference.
They'd still have a pretty titanic tussle because of Ulik's skill but Shazam is just so much stronger and faster. Plus, he can fly and has a long-range attack option. Ulik would put up a great fight but it just wouldn't be enough.
8 Shazam's Wisdom Of Solomon Would Help Him See Through Loki's Tricks
Loki's status as the God of Mischief makes him a tough foe to fight. He's strong and skilled, but it's his magic that really makes a difference, allowing him to trick just about anyone. However, that's what the wisdom of Solomon is for. Shazam is a smart cookie; he knows his mythology, so he'd know that Loki is a trickster and fall back on the wisdom of Solomon.
Loki's powerful but it's doubtful he'd be able to mess with the power of the Wizard Shazam, so he couldn't take away Billy's powers. With the wisdom of Solomon and much great strength and speed, Loki doesn't stand much of a chance.
7 Carnage's Symbiote Wouldn't Be Enough Against Shazam
Carnage is Spider-Man's most terrifying foe. His symbiote makes him a formidable opponent but it's not going to cut it against Shazam. For one thing, Carnage is much weaker and slower than Shazam. On top of that, his preferred attack method, using the symbiote to form bladed weapons, isn't going to work against Shazam's durability.
Carnage is also vulnerable to electrical attack, which means that a couple of blasts of Zeus's lightning would be enough to take down the symbiotic psychopath. Carnage is thoroughly outclassed by Shazam in every way.
6 Abomination Wouldn't Hold A Candle To Shazam
Abomination is one of Hulk's greatest foes, but also he's very limited. He's basically just someone who can punch and kick with super strength. He's certainly strong but he's weaker than Hulk and doesn't get stronger when he gets madder. He's a good fighter but that's not going to be enough against Shazam. Shazam is much stronger than him and can fly, giving him options that Abomination doesn't have.
Once Shazam gets a bead on how strong Abomination is, that's basically going to the end of it. He won't hold back and could almost certainly knock the gamma monster out with one punch; anyone who can knock Superman around is vastly stronger than just about any hero or villain in the Marvel Universe.
5 Ultron Would Be A Challenge For Shazam But Not Too Much Of One
Ultron is one of the Avengers' greatest foes and has committed terrible acts in his war against humanity. While he's strong, smart, and armed to the teeth, his adamantium shell makes it all possible, allowing him to take a tremendous amount of punishment. This is what is going to keep him in the fight against Shazam, as he's vastly inferior in every other way, but it won't win the fight for him.
Ultron's adamantium isn't pure, so there are weaknesses. Beyond that, getting hit with the force Shazam is going to be generating will damage internal components. It might be a long fight, but Shazam has it in the bag.
4 Apocalypse's Power Would Give Shazam Pause But Wouldn't Be Enough
Apocalypse is one of the X-Men's greatest foes. While he was an ally of the mutant nation of Krakoa, that doesn't change his survival of the fittest dogma or the threat he poses. His powers make him a devastating opponent and his Celestial armor gives him uncanny durability. The variety of his offense would make it a hard fight for Shazam but not an impossible one.
Apocalypse can do a lot but in the end, it wouldn't be enough. His best bet is telepathic attacks, as Shazam has him beat in every other category but even then, the wisdom of Solomon and other powers would give Shazam protection. This would be another long fight but it is one that Shazam would win.
3 Even With The Annihilation Wave, Annihilus Has No Chance Against Shazam
Annihilus's threat has grown immensely in recent years. He's one of the most dangerous forces in the Marvel Universe and with the power of the Annihilation Wave on his side, he's nigh unstoppable to any one hero. Well, any one Marvel hero; Shazam is on another level. Even if he had the Annihilation Wave on his side, Annihilus stands very little chance against him.
A bunch of voracious Negative Zone bugs aren't going to do much against Shazam. If it was just a straight one on one fight between the two, Annihilus definitely doesn't have a chance as Shazam vastly outclasses him.
2 Doctor Doom Would Fall To The Younger Hero
Doctor Doom is a grave threat to anyone he battles. He's drained the power of gods, imprisoned Galactus, and basically done things no one else can do. His armor is second to none and his magic skills give him an extra factor in battle. Doom is going to be a great challenge Shazam but not an insurmountable one.
Doom's armor isn't really set up to drain the same kinds of energy that Shazam uses. While his magic is strong, it's not strong enough to mess with the Wizard's magic. Shazam is used to fighting very intelligent, arrogant opponents; it wouldn't be an easy fight but he'd pull out the win.
1 Thanos Couldn't Stand Up To Shazam's Might
Thanos is one of Marvel's greatest villains but that doesn't mean he's dangerous to the most powerful DC heroes like Shazam. Heroes like Shazam and Superman can lift tens of thousands of tons; Thanos tops out at much less than that. Thanos's cosmic energy powers are vast but Shazam's durability is more than up to the job of handling them.
Shazam is faster than Thanos by a lot and his flight gives his attacks an extra dimension. Thanos is outclassed by Shazam in power and while he still has his native cunning and ferocity, it wouldn't be enough. Shazam can hit him a thousand times from every angle in a second with force the likes of which Thanos has never experienced before. Thanos would be a challenge for Shazam but not that much of one.
