The Green Lantern Corps is the premiere peacekeeping force throughout the universe. They've all been given the same ring--The Most Powerful Weapon In The Universe. But just because they all have it doesn't mean they're all equal in terms of power.

Having a Green Lantern ring and mastering it aren't the same thing. Not every Green Lantern uses its ring in the same high-stress situations against dangerous cosmic threat, and other Green Lanterns have been exposed to far more power than the average Green Lantern will ever experience. Knowing that, it's unsurprising that some Green Lanterns rank a little higher than the rest.

10 Simon Baz Can Do Things With The Ring No One Else Can

Simon Baz Green Lanterns Cropped

Simon Baz might be inexperienced in terms of years, but he's been tested by some of the most dangerous enemies in the universe. He's battled against Volthoom, the first person to own any power ring, and survived. He also taught some of the first seven Green Lanterns how to use their powers while learning to master his own.

Outside of battle, Simon has displayed a pair of abilities that suggest a deeper connection with the ring than most can manage. He's capable of seeing the future with Emerald Sight, and he's shown to be capable of healing other people, which generally can't be done with the ring.

9 Kilowog Has More Experience Than Any Other Lantern

Kilowog returns in Green Lantern Rebirth

Kilowog is one of the Green Lanterns with the longest tenure. In his time as a Green Lantern, he's trained everyone from Hal Jordan to Simon Baz. His imposing physique makes him a perfect Drill Sergeant type, even though, ultimately, he thinks with his head and is more of an intellectual than people give him credit for.

His experience with the Green Lantern ring makes him capable of things that rookie Green Lanterns can't do, and he's survived a number of dangerous eras for the Green Lanterns and still keeps coming back.

8 Hannu Has Super Strength And Rarely Uses His Ring

Hannu fights Kyle Rayner

A challenge to being a Green Lantern is their ring running out of power because most Lanterns have no metahuman powers without them. But Hannu is a little different. A being made entirely of stone, not only is he more durable, but he's also stronger than the average Green Lantern.

Because of his strength, he tends to rely a little less on his Lantern ring. His ring is frequently almost fully charged, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know how to use it when he needs to. He's frequently been shown to use it in emergencies, but it means he's always got more power remaining than the average Lantern.

7 Guy Gardner Has Experience Managing Several Ring Powers

Though Guy Gardner has been one of the Green Lantern Corps' biggest troublemakers, he's also one of their most loyal members. The Ring (and the Corps) means everything to him. That said, he isn't just adept with his own ring--he's shown mastery over several kinds of Rings over the years: he had Sinestro's ring in the 90s and managed to successfully wield a Red Lantern ring for a while, too.

Lastly, Guy has his Vuldarian heritage to count on, which allows him to morph parts of his body into weapons whenever he needs them. Guy's versatility, combined with his stubbornness, makes him a threat to any enemy he comes across.

6 Mogo Is A Sentient Planet With The Powers Of A Green Lantern

Mogo, green planet in DC Comics.

One of the best things about being a Green Lantern is the diversity of its Corps. Mogo was one of the Green Lanterns created in the mid-80s. The character wields the power of a Green Lantern, but on a massive scale, as he's literally an entire planet. Over the years, Mogo has been everything from one of the Green Lanterns' greatest weapons to a secret base for them to operate from.

With Mogo on their side, the Green Lanterns were even able to suppress parts of the Black Lantern army without the White Lanterns. Mogo's vast powers also let him redirect rings anywhere in the universe to constantly find new owners. He isn't just a powerful Green Lantern but a vital one to their team.

5 Hal Jordan Created His Own Ring At One Point

Hal Jordan recharges his Green Lantern ring in DC Comics.

Hal Jordan's ring is literally built differently from any other member of the Green Lantern Corps. He's spent so much time powered up by the Green Light of Will that he has a deeper connection to it than any other Green Lantern.

Between his time wielding all the Green Lantern energy as Parallax and wielding Krona's gauntlet, it's changed him from being just another person with a ring. Now he can connect with the ring on a different level. He formed his own ring out of his own willpower, meaning he's capable of generating higher levels of energy from his ring than other Green Lanterns can.

4 Kyle Rayner Wielded The Ion Powers Twice

Kyle Rayner as both the Green and White Lantern in DC Comics

When Hal Jordan wielded the power of all the Green Lanterns, it was while being possessed by the Parallax entity. But when Kyle Rayner wielded it, it was simply with the power itself. As Ion, he used his cosmic powers to help people all over Earth, even as he began terrifying the Justice League because of how much he had.

After that, though, Kyle bonded with the Ion powers and became a major help to the Green Lantern Corps. He's been exposed to levels of power beyond anything a normal Green Lantern has so many times it's almost become routine for him. These days, he's back to "normal" and performing way below his destiny, but his experience with those powers remains.

3 Sodam Yat Has Powers Like A Kryptonian And The Power Of Ion

The Green Lantern Sodam Yat, wielding the power of Ion

Sodam Yat is one of the Green Lantern Corps' big guns, someone who tends to appear only during the most dangerous missions. He's a Daxamite, which means under the power of a yellow sun, he's got some of the same capabilities as a Kryptonian, though not always to the same degree.

He also possesses the power of the Green Lantern's Ion entity, effectively making him into a "super" Green Lantern with greater access to power and no chance of running out of energy. Though he has the same weakness to lead as his fellow Daxamites, his connection to Ion protects him, so he can continue fighting on.

2 John Stewart Has Been A Guardian Of The Universe Before

One of the most courageous members of the Green Lanterns, John Stewart, unfortunately, isn't even using a Green Lantern ring these days. Instead, he has the power of the godstorm, an infinite well of energy he's been using to help save the Green Lanterns all over the world. Even before that, though, John has frequently known power beyond what a normal Green Lantern has been close to.

During his time on the Mosaic World, the Guardians elevated John's strength until he was more than just a normal Green Lantern. He'd become a Guardian of the Universe, one known as the Master Builder. John wields godlike power regularly and doesn't let it corrupt who he is.

1 Ganthet Has Wielded The Power Of A Green Lantern Before

An image of Ganthet announcing his decision to join the Green Lantern Corps in DC Comics

Ganthet has always been one of the most reliable members of the Guardians. He's a character who's shown a willingness to get his hands dirty when necessary, though he knows the Guardians have no business meddling in the affairs of others.

As a Guardian, Ganthet is already incredibly powerful, capable of wielding cosmic forces beyond most people's understandings. But in a time of danger for the Green Lantern Corps, Ganthet also showed a willingness to wear a ring on his own. He became the Green Lantern of Sector 0, even creating his own battery for himself.
