We are just a few short months away from the biggest comic book movie event since, well, last year around this same time. Avengers: Endgame, the much anticipated follow up to the heart wrenching cliff hanger of Avengers: Infinity Waris set to arrive in theaters worldwide on April 26th. As with Infinity War before it, the Russo brothers have again kept their lips tight regarding Endgame - reportedly only giving us clips from the first twenty minutes of the movie in trailers and promotional footage. Something that we do have to go off of, however, is a cast list that we can pretty much vet to complete accuracy, with a little help from both the Internet Movie Database, cast interviews, and some leaked set photos of the production.

The last we saw of earth's mightiest heroes, they were defeated by an Infinity-Gauntlet-wielding Thanos, who snapped half of the universe out of existence. To help better understand how the Avengers might come out on top this time, and reverse the aftermath of The Decimation, we perused the list of characters who are confirmed to appear in Avengers: Endgame, and came up with a list of the strongest - the combined power of whom may be able bring Thanos down. The 10 Strongest Confirmed Characters In Avengers: Endgame.

Keep in mind, these power rankings are based on MCU canon (as much as possible), so do not @ us with "but in the comics..." The comics will not help us now. Otherwise, we might be talking about a particular blonde fellow swooping in to save the day...

10. Captain America

Do not let the feathered hair and boyish good looks fool you, Cap is a force to be reckoned with. Ever since the super soldier serum was pumped into his veins, we have seen Steve Rogers outrun cars, take on alien invaders in hand to hand combat, and (briefly) delay a five infinity stone-wielding Thanos by holding the gauntlet with his bare hands to pause the Titan's hammering blow.

An argument could be made that the most vital characteristics of Captain America are his ethics and leadership, but the strength of this Avenger should not be overlooked. He even held his own last round without his classic shield, proving that this man is greater than the tool he wields.

9. Black Panther

Although he was technically snapped, we know he is coming back, so T'Challa comes in just in front of his friend and ally, Captain America, and the difference between them is on the margins. Both Black Panther and Captain America possess superhuman strength, and both men received this power artificially, with T'Challa's coming from ingesting the heart-shaped herb.

What separates the two mostly comes down to how technologically advanced Wakanda is. Captain America may have a vibranium shield, but Black Panther's entire suit is made from it, the most powerful metal known to man. This makes the Wakandan king bulletproof when he is dressed for the occasion, and thanks to his sister Shuri, his suit now absorbs and stores kinetic energy used against it, that he can then blast out in purple-tinted shock-waves.

8. Hulk

After becoming exposed to high levels of gamma radiation, Dr. Bruce Banner found that whenever he became angry, he turned into a green monster, a beast we all know commonly as Hulk. Banner's alternate persona is stronger, faster, greener, and more voracious than his previous counterparts on this list. We know this to be fact, because Iron Man's Hulkbuster protocol does not involve calling up Steve Rogers to take the green beast down. Rather, it is Tony himself donning an armored suit as big as Hulk himself.

Although the less than jolly green giant was not his usual "smashing" self the last time we saw him (thanks to an early round K.O. at the hands of Thanos) we have faith that Hulk will get it back together for Endgame.

7. Iron Man

Avengers Endgame Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr

Ever a fan favorite, Tony Stark comes in above the three heroes with super strength, despite not having any true "powers" of his own. Just an ordinary human being on his own, Stark immediately becomes one of the strongest Avengers when he assumes the guise of Iron Man.

Throughout his tenure in the MCU, Iron Man's heroics have easily surpassed those of Hulk, Black Panther, and Captain America. Not only did he save all of New York City from an atomic bomb, but he also fought Captain America and Winter Soldier one-on-two, and they still barely brought him down. He can take down Hulk with his Hulkbuster suit, and was the first to make Thanos bleed.

6. Scarlet Witch

Another snapped casualty that we know will make it back is Wanda Maximoff. Ranking Scarlet Witch above Iron Man in the comics may not come as a surprise to most, but in the MCU we have not truly seen nor had explained the full capability of Wanda's powers. But, we still think that there is enough there to notch her just above Tony.

First, she was able to mentally manipulate Iron Man in Age of Ultron, and this was when she was still little more than a rookie with her magical skill set. Since then, we have seen her levitate, produce powerful energy blasts, and utilize telepathy. What really takes the cake, is the fact that she was able to hold off a five-stoned Thanos with one of her energy beams, while simultaneously destroying the Mind Stone.

5. Ant-Man

Scott Lang on the Avengers Mansion's surveillance camera in the MCU's Avengers: Endgame

Put down your pitchforks, we can explain. Granted, the Ant-Man of the MCU is very different to the one in the comics, as the theatrical version is almost completely limited to the powers of Hank Pym's suit creations. As powerful as this may make Scott Lang when he is in the suit, it alone is not enough for him to begin the top five of our list.

What does gain him a place, however, is an ability that he now possesses, which theory after theory all but confirm will be incredibly useful for the Avengers' rematch - the Quantum Realm. If Scott is able to provide he and the surviving Avengers with an ability to travel through time via the Quantum Realm, they could undo The Decimation. This would make Ant-Man one of the most consequential, and thus most powerful, Avengers in Endgame.

4. Doctor Strange

The action we have seen from the Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU establishes him as a lock as one of earth's mightiest. As he told Tony Stark in Infinity War, his job is "protecting your reality, douchebag."

In Strange's first on screen action in his solo movie, he takes down Dormammu, a primordial entity and ruler of the Dark Dimension that possesses apocalyptic powers. Although this victory was achieved via a technicality, Strange's mystical arts career was in its infancy at the time. Today (when he becomes un-snapped), he is even more powerful. So much so, that he went toe-to-toe with a quadruple stone stacked Thanos for a much longer time than anyone would have expected, and pushed Thanos to the brink of defeat (albeit with a little help from his friends). Not to mention, the Endgame movie title is based off of the Doctor's iconic line from Infinity War. Expect Doctor Strange to play a titular role in the future of the MCU.

3. Captain Marvel

Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, is a tougher heroine to gauge as far as mightiness is concerned, for we have yet to see her on the big screen. This makes her a bit of a wild card that could become more powerful than any other Avenger that we have seen so far. If we take Kevin Feige at his word, this is a high probability. While we do not think that this new addition to the assembled heroes will be as strong as she is in the comic books, we can make some rough speculation based on trailer footage, and teaser canon that Marvel has already given us.

What we know is that Captain Marvel will possess super strength, durability, flight, regenerative healing, and energy manipulation which include her recently teased photon blasts. We do not know if this will include going full Binary, but the trailer footage that we have seen so far certainly suggests that this may be the case. Regardless, we should expect her to be a game changer in Endgame.

2. Thor

Chris Hemsworth as Thor

We have seen the god of thunder go through quite the "gauntlet" of trials and tribulations throughout his career as an Avenger and a Revenger. Virtually all of his family and friends are dead, his home world of Asgard was destroyed by his sister, and to top it all off, he was face-to-face with Thanos in the moment the mad Titan snapped his fingers, eliminating half of all life in the universe.

But do not let that put you off. What would have broken most mortals only makes this god that much stronger. If Tony was the first to make Thanos bleed, Thor erased all doubt as to his own capabilities when he drove Stormbreaker deep into Thanos' chest - critically injuring Thanos to a greater degree than (we assume) anyone in history. Naming him the strongest Avenger is sure to upset Hulk who covets that title, but Thor has earned it.

1. Thanos

As dreaded as he was, destiny arrived all the same. Thanos is an obvious confirmed character in Endgame, as he will have to be taken down one way or another in order to restore the universe back to a pre-snap level of life. Seeing as he has not been defeated (yet), wielded a gauntlet full of Infinity Stones, and destroyed half of all existence with the snap of his fingers - Thanos is king. The only question that remains, is if the other nine on this list can topple his grandeur.
