Street Fighter will join the ranks of Free Comic Book Day's 2021 offerings with a new special.

The Street Fighter: Back To School special pits several of Street Fighter's younger characters -- including Ryu's protégé Sakura and her rival Karin -- against a new opponent: a leather clad motorcyclist named Akira. The Back To School special will be written by UDON’s Director of Publishing Matt Moylan and illustrated by Genzoman, with a cover by Hanzo Steinbach that showcases Sakura and Akira locked in battle.

Diamond Comic Distributors announced that this year's Free Comic Book Day will take place on Aug. 14, 2021. Usually the event is set during the first Saturday in May, but the shift was made due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Other titles for this year's Free Comic Book Day event include Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures from IDW and a Venom/Hulk book from Marvel. In total, there will be 51 titles released this year.

UDON has published multiple Street Fighter comics, as well as comics based on Capcom's other fighting game franchise Darkstalkers. It also served as the home for Cannon Busters -- the comic by LeSean Thomas that would serve as inspiration for the Netflix anime series of the same name.

Street Fighter: Back To School #1 will be available to read on Aug. 14, 2021.
