The world of Fortnite added another pair of video game legends to its ranks.Fornite announced on Feb. 19 that Street Fighter alums Chun-Li and Ryu are now playable characters. In celebration of the pair's arrival, Fortnite's YouTube released gameplay footage of the two characters, preparing to battle in Street Fighter II. Suddenly, the duo are pulled into Fortnite via the Zero Point with the Street Fighter II screen reading "Double K.O."RELATED: The Flash Is Racing to Fortnite - Here's How to Unlock the Skin

In the world of Street Fighter, Ryu serves as its de-facto protagonist, being one of its world's most skilled martial artists. He's well known for his devastating "Hadouken" technique which sends a massive ball of energy towards his opponent. Chun-Li is an Interpol agent hellbent on hunting down the criminal M. Bison, who killed her father. Her signature move is her "Spinning Bird Kick," moving her legs upside down like a rotating bladed-fan.

Both the Street Fighter and Fortnite worlds are no stranger to crossing over with other franchises. Fortnite has featured several characters and skins based on various franchises, with the most recent being the intergalactic hunter, The Predator. An upcoming event has teased the appearance of DC Comics' resident speedster the Flash, based on Grant Gustin's portrayal of the Fastest Man Alive. Both Ryu and Chun-Li have appeared in the X-Men vs. Street Fighter and the Marvel VS. Capcom franchises respectively.

Developed by Epic Games, Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
