Street Fighter's Cammy has been one of the series' most upbeat fighters. But her journey to the character that fans now know and love was far from easy, and was littered with hard truths. Like Marvel's Winter Soldier, Cammy was once nothing more than a weapon used by the enemy to accomplish their nefarious acts.

Much like Bucky Barnes, Cammy was never a villain at heart. Instead, she was born to be a slave for the criminal organization Shadaloo. Dealing in weapons and biochem drugs, Shadaloo is the franchise's deadliest crime syndicate that is consistently at war with the heroic Delta Red organization. Before joining Delta Red, Cammy was one of M. Bison's Dolls, assassins created to protect the tyrant. But Cammy eventually broke out, searching for answers to her past.

Her first escape attempt didn't go well, as her battle with M. Bison ended with her being knocked unconscious and brainwashed again. Her mind was wiped of her experience, and she continued to operate as a Doll for some time longer. When tasked with assassinating the Yoga Master, Dhalsim, he instead freed Cammy's mind and liberated her from Bison's hold, as Steve Rogers did for Bucky. Her escape was successful thanks to the assistance of Bison's main assassin, Vega, who couldn't bring himself to kill someone as beautiful as her.

Like Bucky's search for answers and his desire to stop the other Winter Soldiers like him, Cammy was driven to free the other Dolls under Bison's control. After doing so, she discovered that her fate was far different from the other sisters, as her body was meant to be a clone of Bison to be used if his body ever failed him. The battle against Cammy's former master ended with her being knocked out again and left at Delta Red's doorstep, thanks to Vega and his code to always aid beautiful people.

Delta Red acted as Cammy's Wakanda, and even though she couldn't remember her past, she had no issues helping her new allies. Cammy's memories eventually came back to her after confronting Bison during the World Warrior tournament. Even after remembering her entire life, Cammy decided that she didn't have to be a weapon and chose to continue the fight against her old master.

When Bucky Barnes was finally free from his brainwashing, it wasn't easy moving on. Cammy is similar in that no matter how she lives her life, she will always remember her past as a weapon. However, the best medicine has been taking the fight back to her rival, M. Bison, and the people that controlled her. Now, eliminating her past has become the main reason why Cammy will never stop fighting.
