When you really think about it, "Stranger Things" and the new "Star Wars" films share some striking similarities. The two pop culture juggernaut titles explore friendship and family amidst otherworldly backdrops, include shadowy authoritarian bad guy organizations, and not to mention the fact that they tug at our nostalgic heartstrings. It was probably only a matter of time before someone decided to mash-up the respective universes -- and now that it's here, we're not sure why it took this long.

io9 showcased some fan art by Michael Maher, Jr. depicting the "Stranger Things" kids cast as their perfect "Star Wars" counterparts. You've got Eleven as Leia, Mike Wheeler as Han Solo, Lucas as Lando, and perhaps most inspired of them all, Dustin as Chewie. Check out the image below, and be sure to block off some time to either write or read the inevitable fan fiction that's to come.

With origin stories being all the rage these days -- the Young Han Solo standalone is due out in 2018, after Episode VIII -- why not roll the dial even farther back to explore a ten-year-old Lando cheating his way through elementary school? We could see Chewbacca and Han smuggling snacks during recess. Leia would run for class president. The list goes on, really. Get to work, Netflix and Disney.

Development for the second season of "Stranger Things" is already on the fast track, and "Episode VIII" is due out in theaters on December 15, 2017.
