Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp opened up about the sexuality of Will Byers and revealed whether the boy who took a trip to the Upside Down could be LGBTQ+.

While Stranger Things already has an LGBTQ+ ally in Maya Hawke's Robin, a cryptic Season 3 line of dialogue has some fans suspecting that Will is interested in guys instead of girls. With hype for Season 4 reaching fever pitch, Schnapp revealed whether there's any truth in the rumors.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the 15-year-old confessed, "There's nothing set in stone. It's kind of up to the audience, and I think the Duffers did that on purpose."

The young star has his own ideas on Will's sexuality and added that he thinks Will is simply coming to terms with the trauma he's faced. "Some people perceive it as Will could be gay, asexual or whatever," continued Schnapp. "Or, like how I see it, he was stuck in the Upside Down, and he was away for so long that all of his friends started growing up while he was in this other world. When he came back, everyone was all grown up, and he was still a little kid who still wanted to do little kid things like play D&D. He wasn't ready to face this maturity and get into relationships. So, I think that's what Will is going through right now."

Season 3 ramped up the troubles of teen sexuality with Mike and Lucas starting romantic relationships. This caused a divide in The Party, leading to a frustrated Mike telling Will, "It’s not my fault you don't like girls.”

Stranger Things was created by the Duffer Brothers and stars Winona Ryder, Millie Bobbie Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Priah Ferguson, Cary Elwes, Jake Busey and Maya Thurman-Hawke. The first three seasons are currently available on Netflix with a fourth already in the works.
