Actor Brett Gelman, who plays investigative journalist Murray Bauman in Stranger Things, went on the record saying he wants more karate fights in the next season.

In an interview with Vulture, Gelman said, "I want lots of 'action Murray' in season five and a real role in saving the day in the way he did this season." He went on to say, "I hope I get to have my moments with Vecna or get into karate fights with Demogorgons and whatnot."

Gelman got to get into a lot of karate fights in Season 4 of Stranger Things. "The training was really extensive," he explained. "A lot of combinations of punching, kicking, and blocking." He also noted that he was "drenched in sweat at the end of every workout."

Talking about what those workouts comprised, he explained, "At one point, they brought out these mock breakaway boards. At one point, they held up this certain level of board – I would say it was beginner intermediate. They were like, 'See if you can break this practice board with a side kick.' I did. And they were like, 'You just broke somebody's rib.'" While there has been no confirmation on whether or not Murray will be breaking more ribs in Season 5 of Stranger Things, it has been reported the season is currently full steam ahead in the development phase.

In a recent interview, actor David Harbour, who plays officer Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, suggested Season 5 of the Netflix series may begin shooting next year and that it is currently still in development. He joked, "So it'd probably come out mid-2024, based on our track record."

The events of Stranger Things Season 4 have not all sat well with audiences. Some viewers went so far as to launch a petition on Change.org, addressed to both the Duffer brothers and series director and producer Shawn Levy, to bring back a fan-favorite character. While there was speculation the character's end may not have been permanent, their death was confirmed shortly after the release of Season 4's second volume by the Duffer Brothers themselves.

Season 4 of Stranger Things, which follows the Hawkins crew attempting to save their town from the powerful villain Vecna, is currently available to stream in full on Netflix.
