Stranger Things actor Gaten Matarazzo doubled down on his previous statement that the upcoming fourth season of the Netflix series is the "scariest" one yet in the action-sci-fi series.

"That's the one thing I've noticed," the actor said on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. "I was reading it and I was like, 'We're going for it this year. That's pretty cool.'" Matarazzo continued, "So I don't know if like, the toddlers, are going to enjoy it as much."

When Fallon suggested that Netflix should release Season 4 of Stranger Things in segments so that the younger viewers can grow up with the show, the actor joked about production being delayed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, adding, "At the rate [that] we're going, they might be like 12."

Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson) previously teased the spookiness of Season 4, stating, "I think most would probably say it's the scariest [season] out of the previous three, which I love because it's very fun to film." He also recently suggested that the new season will include more "mature" and "ambitious" content.

The young actor's appearance on The Tonight Show aired just hours after his Stranger Things co-star David Harbour posted a live stream on Instagram from the set of Season 4. During the stream, Harbour appeared in his Jim Hopper costume and admitted that he was exhausted and had a "very tough day" filming. The segment also featured a cameo from Eleven actor Millie Bobby Brown, who teased Harbour about sharing spoilers ahead of the new season.

"Oh no, Millie. Don't tell Netflix," Harbour joked. "Don't tell Netflix that I'm doing Instagram live from the set. I'm just going to read your sections of the script, Millie. I'm just going to tell everyone what happens to Eleven this season."

Season 3 of Stranger Things ended with Harbour's character appearing to sacrifice himself in order to save the children of Hawkins, Indiana. It was later revealed, however, that Hopper was alive and being held captive in a Russian prison camp.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Priah Ferguson, Cary Elwes, Jake Busey, Maya Thurman-Hawke and Levon Thurman-Hawke. Season 4 has yet to receive a release date.
