Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard recently suggested a likely release window for Season 5 of the Netflix sci-fi/horror series.

The 20-year-old actor, who plays Mike Wheeler, indicated that Stranger Things' fifth and final season will air in 2025 during an episode of GQ's Actually Me web series. "I can't believe it's already Season 5," Wolfhard said. "I will be 22 by the time it comes out, I think, and I started working on the show at 12. That is insane. I'll be able to drink with Gaten [Matarazzo], Caleb [McLaughlin] and Noah [Schnapp] and the whole cast at the premiere of Stranger Things 5. [You] couldn't have said the same thing at the Season 1 premiere, which blows my mind."

Wolfhard discussed Stranger Things drawing to a close in an earlier interview, expressing support for series co-creators the Duffer Brothers' decision not to push for any additional seasons. The star said that it would be "ridiculous" to continue Stranger Things' story beyond five seasons, and expressed faith in the Duffers to deliver a "perfect" conclusion. Wolfhard also reflected on the uncertainty surrounding Stranger Things' future when the series premiered, insisting that the cast and crew weren't sure if it would be renewed for a second season.

Finn Wolfhard on the Stranger Things Spinoff

Fortunately for all involved, Stranger Things became a massive hit, with the franchise set to continue via spinoff projects after the main series wraps up. Wolfhard famously guessed the as-yet-unrevealed premise of at least one of these spinoffs, leaving the Duffer Brothers rattled. "[They] were like, 'That is the idea. Who told you?' and I was like, 'No one,'" Wolfhard recalled. "And they were like 'What do you mean? You just came up with it?' and I was like, 'Well, no, I just thought that that would be a cool way to expand.' It was really funny, and they were like 'Okay, well... don't tell anyone.'"

The Duffers' brief moment of disquiet was nothing compared to Wolfhard's own battles with anxiety midway through Stranger Things' run, though. The star recently opened up about his mental health issues while making the series, explaining that he suffered from panic attacks as a result of his newfound fame and the pressures associated with being a child actor. "Everyone was like, 'Look at him, he's fine. He's having the best time," Wolfhard said. "But in reality, I was probably also developing and things were happening in my brain and anxieties were forming and things that I didn't realize that I had to bury because of how I had to feel at work."

Stranger Things Seasons 1-4 are currently streaming on Netflix. Season 5 does not yet have a release date.
