The third season of Stranger Things has continued the show's tradition of being one of Netflix's most watched original programs.

Nielsen -- a rating system for audience viewership -- concluded that the average number of viewers for Stranger Things Season 3's first four days on Netflix was 12.8 million, 21 percent more than Season 2 had in the same amount of time. Additionally, Nielsen reports that the Season 3 episode with the largest audience was its first, with 19.17 million viewers tuning in. The lowest was "Chapter Seven: The Bite," with 7.36 million viewers.

During the the week of July 1, the only program to surmount Stranger Things in viewership was the Women's World Cup final. However, it is also worth noting that only TV set viewings are counted by Nielsen's SVOD content ratings, meaning it neglects viewings on other devices, such as laptops and smartphones.

Either way, Stranger Things is showing impressive numbers, and continues to be one of the most binged streaming series. In fact, it was found that around 824,000 people watched the entirety of Season 3 on its premiere date.
