When Dustin first claimed to have a girlfriend in Season 3 of Netflix's Stranger Things, his friends doubted it. However, the show's season finale revealed that Suzie was real, and that she and Dustin made a sickeningly cute match, even sharing a special song. But while Suzie's appearance at the end of Season 3 was essential to saving the day, fans only got to spend a few minutes getting to know her.

While little was said about how they met, Stranger Things: Science Camp #2 just revealed how Suzie approached Dustin for the first time.

Picking up where the previous issue had left off, Dustin was slowly agonizing over how to set up his own Dungeons & Dragons campaign for his new camp friends. While he was having creative epiphanies, he didn't even notice Suzie sending the occasional glance in his direction. Suzie seemed to know right away that she was interested in Dustin, but couldn't muster the courage to go and speak to him. By that point, Dustin had become popular at camp, being surrounded by a group of friends at almost all times.

This may largely have contributed to why Suzie noticed him in the first place. All the social status aside, Dustin's time at Camp Know Where has been one of easy adjustment. Having been through true terrors and coming to terms with who he is as an individual, Dustin exudes comfortable confidence in himself.

This humble confidence of Dustin's is definitely a boost for him, but it created an obstacle for Suzie, as she had never really spoken to a boy she liked in that way. And Dustin's popularity presented another hurdle as she worried she wouldn't be cool enough for him. Seeking answers from a more experienced source, Suzie approached one of the counselors, Dawn, for advice on the matter.

While Dawn was initially more interested in whether a fight broke out, she nonetheless gave Suzie genuine, if not obvious, advice on how to interact with Dustin by appealing to their shared interests. Encouraged, Suzie approached Dustin as he was trying to set up his campaign. Suzie tried to start a conversation about science, but Dustin corrected her, revealing his work at being a dungeon master.

Though she'd heard of the game, Suzie was nowhere near as knowledgeable about it as Dustin was. So while he somewhat obliviously droned on about it, Suzie remained uncomfortably quiet, before mistaking Dustin's off-hand comment about the workload as a subtle way for him to tell her to get lost.

Once she left though, it became obvious that Dustin had been lost in a passionate ramble. He had enjoyed her presence and talking to her. But even though he had newfound charisma, he still had very little skills when it came to talking to girls. But while he regretted her walking away, fans of the series can be comforted by the fact that this is only the beginning of their relationship. They'll have plenty of adventures in the next few issues, especially if they have to deal with the apparent slasher who's starting to make camp counselors disappear.

By the time Dustin and Suzie leave camp and the horror story that will likely ensue, Season 3 shows that will both be committed to maintaining a long-distance relationship. And considering both of them share a passion for science and nerd culture, these two summertime sweethearts just might just make it work.
