WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Stranger Things: The Bully one-shot from Greg Pak, Valeria Favoccia, Dan Jackson and Nate Piekos, on sale now.

Stranger Things' second season was one of the most high-octane and intense stories in Hawkins, Indiana, with a story that centered on Will Byers being possessed by the Mind Flayer. The overlord was controlling him from the shadowy realm, the Upside Down, and using him as a conduit to have a pack of Demodogs attacking the small town so the gate could be opened for the master to come over.

However, in Stranger Things: The Bully, we discover another dark story unfolded right alongside the central tale that saw Will fight for his humanity against the villain at the MK Ultra building. In the eighth episode, "The Mind Flayer," Will's powers as the Spy were coming to life big time as his family tried to cure him. While Hopper, Will, Joyce, Mike, Bob,and Dr. Owens took shelter when Demodogs came hunting, Steve, Dustin, Max and Lucas were fighting off some of the beasts at a junkyard. They laid a trap and Steve with his signature bat thought that after bonding with Dustin, he could do the job and impress the kids.

The Bully, though, reveals another violent battle being fought right next to the junkyard thanks to Troy and James, the town bullies. They were the annoying kids who accosted Mike in Season 1, only for Eleven to physically attack the bullies in return. She snapped Troy's arm and used her telekinesis to push James away, ensuring they'd lived in fear after that. To top it off, she also made Troy wet his pants in front the entire school.

Since then, Troy has been clamoring revenge and stalking the kids. His abusive dad is the reason why he's so bitter. While James wants to forget the drama, Troy won't rest until he can get a win. This leads them to the rotting pumpkin patch where they encounter baby Demodogs like Dustin's Dart. Troy kicks one away, thinking it's some kind of newt or frog, and he berates James for not helping hunt them when the others run off. Troy storms off but returns the next day with an ice scraper and convinces James to bring a shovel so they could kill the creatures and figure out what their enemies are up to.

However, when they get to the patch, they're attacked by the fully-grown Demodogs who are out for blood. It gets crazy and James trips on the train track, only for Troy to run and hide behind a tree, leaving his buddy to die. Luckily, the monsters head off to join their species as Steve and the main crew of kids is taking it to them.

An annoyed James even suggests they join Steve and his allies when he sees they're getting outnumbered, but Troy's not up for it, opting to let them die. However, as the bullies try to escape, they're cornered by a rabid pack again, but this time, the monsters switch focus and speed off to head to the MK Ultra lab. It's the Mind Flayer summoning them through Will to come feed in that sequence which would end up taking Bob's life. This is a dark side story that shows how cowardly and selfish Troy is, even when his friends need help.
