Stranger Things

The Stranger Things original miniseries follows Will Byers traversing through the Upside Down. The four issues almost exclusively show Will exploring the Upside Down while his friends and family search for him in Hawkins. His Dungeons and Dragons character Will The Wise plays an integral role as he relates the strange events around him to his D&D adventures with Mike, Dustin and Lucas. This miniseries hammers home the D&D influence on the series and makes callbacks to Season 1. Key moments show Will talking to his mom with the Christmas lights on the wall and saving Nancy from the Demogorgon in the Upside Down.

Stranger Things: Six

Francine Stranger Things comics

Six is the first prequel in the Stranger Things universe. This miniseries explores the Hawkins Lab and a handful of gifted children before the events of season one. Francine aka Six is the series protagonist; she has a form of telepathy that allows her to see the future. After using her powers to avoid a fatal car crash, her parents take advantage of her and abuse her powers for winning lottery tickets. Her only reprieve from home is to go work with Dr. Brenner at the Hawkins Lab.

Once Six starts feeling the Upside Down's presence -- much like Eleven does in the show -- Brenner increases the level of testing to bring the children's powers to the surface. After Six sees Nine fall into a coma and kills a lab tech during a failed test, she decides to escape with other subjects Ricky and Marcy. During the escape attempt, Six sacrifices herself for Ricky and Marcy as they run free through the woods.

Stranger Things: Zombie Boys

Zombie Boys takes place after the events of Stranger Things Season 1. The gang is quarantined in the AV Club, making up last year's homework. Joey Kim is a new film-obsessed student who comes to the AV Club with a brand new camera looking for talent to make a homemade horror movie called Zombie Boy. Luckily, Mr. Clarke convinces the principal to let the boys make the movie for extra credit, so they ditch school to start planning.

Joey takes the idea right from the pages of Will's notebook, where he draws scary pictures to help cope with the terror of his traumatic experience in the Upside Down. Joey helps the gang tap into their greatest fears to bring their best zombies to life. Will is scared to open up to his friends and tries to turn the horror movie into a comedy, an idea that's instantly shot down by Joey, Lucas, Dustin and Mike. Despite their creative differences, the gang gathers all of the necessary props which include a trip to the blood bank for real blood. Will finally overcomes his fears during the movie shoot. It turns out great and is a hit amongst their classmates. Along the way, the gang discovers there's nothing wrong with being scared and that facing fears is where bravery resides.

Stranger Things: Into The Fire

Stranger Things: Into The Fire is the only miniseries on this list that is still being published. The story picks up after the cliffhanger ending of Stranger Things: Six: Ricky and Marcy are on the run in the Chicago area trying to track down their clues about their past. They run into another Hawkins Lab subject, Eight. Eight makes a notable appearance in Stranger Things Season 2, when Eleven runs for a brief stint with Eight and her gang. Marcy is Nine's twin sister and Eight reveals Nine woke up from the coma and is still alive. Marcy and Ricky track down Nine's doctor and continue their journey to find Marcy's sister, along with the remnants of their past.
