Stranger Things has released its teaser for Season 4, and there's a lot to unpack. One of the bigger reveals involves Will Byers, who is a fan-favorite amongst fans after his disappearance in Season 1 kicked off the show's events. But during his journey of growth and discovery, Will has sported some unfortunate haircuts -- each one worse than the last -- and it looks like the pattern continues in Stranger Things 4.

Let's take a look at the progression of Will's bowl cut and compare them to the recent sneak peek.

In Stranger Things' first season, very little is seen of Will Byers due to his disappearance that contributes significantly to the overarching narrative and the introduction of the Upside Down and the Demogorgon. However, more than enough screen time is given to his tragic bowl cut -- a retro 80's hairstyle that should have never existed.

Will's bowl cut can be somewhat overlooked in the first season on account of his lack of presence; audiences only need to be subjected to it for short periods of time. But when he does show up, it can be difficult to sympathize with his horrific ordeals when that distracting bowl cut tags along wherever he goes.

Will's Hair In Stranger Things Season 2

Will Byers in Stranger Things Season 2

In Stranger Things Season 2, Will is much more present than before. Having escaped the Upside Down, Will attempts to rebuild his life while suffering from scarring PTSD and a parasite native to the Upside Down choosing him to be its host. Will endures a lot in Season 2, but at least viewers got the jokes out of their system and grew accustomed to seeing his ill-suited hairstyle.

Not much has changed about Will's haircut between the first two seasons besides its curved shape, which seems to fit his facial structure in a more visually appealing manner than previously. This is an improvement that is complemented by his aging, with him "growing" into the hairstyle as time progresses.

Will's Hair In Stranger Things Season 3

In Season 3, Will matured, and his awful haircut was able to grow out. However, that didn't stop actor Noah Schnapp from despising it. Last year, on The Jimmy Fallon Show, Schnapp expressed his disapproval of the haircut, saying, "One of the worst. I can't begin to explain. I literally ask them all the time, 'Why doesn't Will, maybe he shaves his head?' But really, did everyone have that haircut in the '80s? Who would choose to have that haircut?" While not as bad as the previous two, Season 3's hairdo was far from fashionable.

And as Stranger Things 4 draws near, some fans are sharing Noah's opinion -- a change.org petition has appeared on the internet, campaigning for Byers to have Schnapp's own hairstyle in the upcoming season. However, given that Will appears in the trailer donning another bowl cut, those fans are sure to be disappointed. In the preview, the new look is essentially the same as the top of the previous ones, but Will has decided to shave the sides, which is not a good look. To put it simply, the reinvented style resembles a mushroom cap, something no kid his age should be aiming for.

To see Will's new hairstyle, Stranger Things 4 hits Netflix in summer 2022.
