In Season 2 of the Amazon Prime TV show, The Boys, Stormfront gets introduced as another woman joining The Seven, a superhero team that protects the world. Since branding is transparent and necessary in the show, these women are forced to interview and pose together as a cohesive team. Stormfront plays the role well on camera, but the team quickly discovers that she has a power that cannot be limited or contained.

When Starlight attempts to bond with Stormfront, Stormfront makes it abundantly clear that she doesn't care what Starlight or anyone else thinks. She deems things like empowerment and feminism to be beneath her and not worth her time. The contradiction in her attitude is laughable to the audience and shocking to Starlight who struggles to be as abrasive and assertive as Stormfront naturally portrays. Stormfront does not consider these things as important because she's strong whether they exist or not.

In Season 1, the shows established that Maeve is too saddened by her backstory to be of any real help to other characters in the series that need her, especially Starlight. Maeve may be physically strong, and she's endured much more than most people could imagine, but she seems to lack the belief in herself that she could ever make a change to the corruption in The Seven. She's limited by her mindset and isn't living to her full potential.

Starlight, who originally joined because she wanted to make a difference, eventually submits to the status quo as well. Ultimately, she lacks the drive to stand up for herself or others. She's been beaten down by the system and does not view herself as strong enough, even if she would like to perceive herself as such. She's a superhero, but there's a clear message in the show that she doesn't seem to actually believe in her ability to lead or stop the main antagonist of the show, Homelander.

Starlight seems relieved to have Stormfront join their team at first because she wants a strong woman to idolize and take that first step towards changing things in The Seven. But, in the usual fashion of The Boys, things are not as they seem, and Stormfront is actually an evil supervillain and one of the strongest characters on the show.

Stormfront from The Boys

Defeating Stormfront becomes daunting as the season progresses. She's intimidating and assertive. She doesn't back down when she's told no, and she willingly destroys people's lives or straight-up murders them. She's a powerful force to be reckoned with, and her strength is unwavering. She doesn't hesitate or overthink. Her drive to dominate and take over the world (for super evil reasons) overpowers many of the other characters' desire to stop her or keep people safe.

This power dynamic ultimately forced Maeve and Starlight to work together as there was no way they could have accomplished defeating her without one another. Teaming up to go after the most powerful foe they've ever encountered brings more strength to the duo, awakening parts of themselves that have been dormant for too long. Defeating the strongest character in the series, in turn, brought them immense strength.

If you want to see Starlight and Maeve team up against Stormfront, The Boys is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. Season 3 will premiere on June 3rd, 2022.
