Storm Shadow Returns For G.I. Joe 2

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra got some things right and some things wrong, but it’s hard to argue against the action sequences that featured ninja rivals Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow. Although the more talkative of the pair apparently met his maker at the end of the first film, it appears that looks are once again up to their deceiving ways — because according to one source, Storm Shadow is coming back for the sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter says that South Korean actor Lee Byung-hun is set to reprise his role as Thomas Arashikage, the white-wearing ninja terrorist called Storm Shadow, for the currently untitled G.I. Joe sequel. There are no story details about Lee’s return, so let the speculation begin about his miraculous resurrection. But we do have an estimated date on the Rise of Cobra follow-up, as THR notes that shooting begins on the film in June with a premiere date tentatively set for the summer of 2012.

G.I. Joe 2 comes from a script written by Zombieland and Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Stephen Sommers directed the original G.I. Joe movie, though recent reports suggest he won’t be back for round two.
