Stoker's Mia Wasikowska in Talks to Haunt Crimson Peak

Even as Pacific Rim looms on the horizon, Guillermo del Toro is already looking ahead at Crimson Peak. The filmmaker's gothic horror film has been steadily casting up over the past several months, bringing in exciting names like Benedict Cumberbatch, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam and Emma Stone.

But since initial word on her casting, Stone has had to drop out of Crimson Peak due to scheduling issues. Now, yet another promising actor has been recruited to replace the departing Spider-Man star: Mia Wasikowska of Alice in Wonderland and Stoker fame.

The Wrap reports that Wasikowska is in talks with Legendary Pictures to board del Toro's  haunted house movie. If a deal works out, she'll play a young author named Edith Cushing, who learns that her new husband is not all that he appears to be.

Production on Crimson Peak is expected to get under way in early 2014.
