Though it only ran for a single season, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt is still a bit of a cult classic- those that do know about it know it rather fondly, though perhaps not how they chose to end it. It's one of the many reasons why many fans still hold out hope for a second season or some form of continuation, even after all this time. The titular characters Panty and Stocking do have their iconic 'classic' outfits that they wear a majority of the time, but that isn't to say they don't experiment with other looks- Stocking, especially, who loves dressing up.
Today, we'll be going through the top ten outfits Stocking Anarchy wore throughout the series' run- also known as the ten we'd most love to steal for our own wardrobes!
10 Classic
There's no way we could have a list discussing Stocking's taste in fashion without bringing up her good old classic outfit! This is what would be considered the 'default' look for the character, and is what probably comes to most fans' minds when they think of her. Comprised of a poofy, gothic-lolita style black dress with white trim and accented with blue ribbons and bows, with matching blue-and-black-striped stockings, it's just a great look overall.
It shows her typical stuck-up, refined nature as well, compared to her sister. Perhaps also helped by her posing, it gives off an air of superiority that suits the kind of girl Stocking is.
9 Jet-Black Queen
This next black dress is in a somewhat similar style to the first, poofing out near the bottom and being accented with ruffles and a front bow. However, the lighter white tones have been swapped for a rich, deep purple that go greatly with the darker personality of Stocking. Black flats and her trademark striped stockings complete the outfit, and we understand why she didn't swap them out for another pair, but solid black or matching purple stockings definitely would have allowed this look to rank higher.
The typical bow in her hair looks to be replaced with a crown of sorts, making her look almost like a dark queen, and we're loving it.
8 Waitress In Pink
Darker colors aren't the only thing Stocking knows how to rock- far from it, in fact! She's known to also have a handful of darling pink-centered outfits throughout the show and this is only the first of several that made it onto this list. Garterbelt tells the two angels they need to make money somehow, so a montage of the two trying their hand at many different jobs ensues, and we get the pleasure of seeing the different looks that come with the jobs.
Here, Stocking rocks an adorable pink waitress uniform and her longer hair is tied back with a ribbon that sports the colors of her trademark (absent) stockings! She gives off old-school diner vibes here and it works surprisingly well for her.
7 Sleepy in Stripes
We couldn't help but give Stocking's pajamas the next spot on the list because they're just so cute! It's comprised of a super-long overly baggy striped shirt and matching-colored stockings, as well as a big hat that's decorated with an equally sleepy-looking skull!
It's an adorable outfit that has just enough edge to it to still feel like a perfect fit for a grumpy, sleepy Stocking. It's also one nighttime look that we have to say we're considering wearing ourselves! Minus the ability to transform our stockings into an incredibly deadly anti-demon weapon at a moment's notice, of course- though it would be super cool, if possible.
6 Angelic
Stocking's angel outfit has to come next, and while we believe all the white and gold makes her appear way more angelic than she actually is personality-wise, it makes perfect sense as it's the outfit she transforms into when her and Panty force demons to repent. Adorned with blue hearts that match her hair ribbon instead of the usual bows that adorn most of her outfits, with plenty of white frill and trim, it's quite the heavenly ensemble. The gold corset, armbands and bracelets help to finish off the look and bring everything together.
We can't help but wonder how much such dangly bracelets either get in the way or straight-up fall off during fights, but that's anime logic for you!
5 Bartending Bunny
This is another one of the looks that Stocking sports when her and Panty are forced to work different odd jobs to try to make money. The two sisters decide to work at a bar, where the overall theme seems to be playboy bunnies, at least for the female workers. Stocking sports a black suit while her sister rocks a fiery red one, both of which match each girl's personality quite well.
Though it is a fairly simple look especially compared to most of Stocking's more ornate wardrobe, we had to count this one simply because of her hairstyle here. The super long twintails are such a great look for her!
4 Gambling Girls
Somewhere on their path to becoming respectable, hard-working members of society, the Anarchy sisters decided it would be a better use of their time to simply try to win the money they needed at the local casino. Fans of the series will know that they end up leaving having lost even more than just all of their money, but they certainly walked in looking incredibly fine. Stocking sports an incredibly ornate black dress, complete with gold bracelets and rings, black gloves that cover most of her arms and accessorizing with a bit of pink jewelry that gives the look a splash of color.
It's another one of her outfits that features an alternate hairstyle, so we're immediately in love with it!
3 A Little Cosplay
In one episode, at the request of Garterbelt, the two angels dress up as and pretend to be police for a day- and it's quite the look! Though they're matching, the outfits themselves have some differences. Stocking's is a crop-top with gray shorts that have black straps connected that go over her shirt and connect again at her neck. Fingerless black gloves, black-and-white stockings, black boots and a police hat add to the look nicely.
We just wouldn't recommend ever actually going to these two over the actual police with any problems you might have.
2 Pretty Popular
Though it's easy to forget a lot of the time with how they act, Panty and Stocking do indeed have duties as fallen angels that they're supposed to be carrying out on Earth, which can take them to all manner of places. One such place was a high school, so naturally they needed uniforms in order to get in... well, we can't say undetected, as they drew a LOT of attention and quickly became the most popular girls at the academy, at least until the Daemon sisters took over.
There isn't much to say about the outfit itself as it's a simple uniform, accented with Stocking's trademark stockings as well as an adorable little hat!
1 Spirit Dating
Remember earlier, when we mentioned how Stocking's waitress uniform wouldn't be the only pink outfit on this list? That's because her date dress has to take the number one spot! Here she's seen rocking an incredibly poofy, frilly pink dress, adorned with small pink bows and ribbons almost everywhere you look. The frilly headpiece even has a large pink ribbon on each side, accented with white frills. Though it's a bit hard to tell with the animation style, her pink boots go all the way up above the knee, and it's just such an unbelievably sweet look.
This is also one of the only times Stocking acts very genuinely sweet throughout the series, so the look fits here perfectly! It's a popular one with cosplayers, as well, and for good reason- we'd love to get an excuse to wear this one out!
