Image Comics has announced that Stjepan Sejic is joining "Rat Queens" creator Kurtis Wiebe as the new artist for the popular series. Sejic will join the title in February with the release of Issue #9. According to Image, the series will return with a regular monthly schedule beginning with Issue #12, which arrives in stores in May.

"I'm excited to have Stjepan bring the Rat Queens to life in his distinctive style, a voice that understands both the heart and the humor of Hannah, Dee, Betty and Violet," Wiebe said in an Image press release. "The future of the series is brighter than ever and we're looking forward to getting new issues out to fans."

Ahead of Sejic's debut, guest artist Tess Fowler's work will grace the cover and pages of "Rat Queens Special: Braga" #1, written by Wiebe and slated for a January 14 release.

Original "Rat Queens" artist Roc Upchurch left the series in November in the wake of allegations of domestic abuse against his estranged wife.

Launched in 2013 as part of Image's Shadowline imprint, "Rat Queens" is a medieval fantasy adventure series starring four female lead characters. The book has received widespread critical acclaim, and specifically attracting praise and a passionate fanbase for its positive portrayals of female characters. In 2014, it was nominated for the Eisner Award for Best New Series.
