Stevie Nicks to Appear on ‘American Horror Story’

Stevie Nicks, the iconic signer-songwriter who’s been referenced repeatedly on American Horror Story: Coven, will guest star on an episode of the hit FX drama, co-creator Ryan Murphy announced this morning.

Nicks, who’s long dealt with rumors that she’s a witch, is an obsession of Coven‘s Misty Day, the necromancer played by Lily Rabe. Listening to “Rhiannon,” the character explained to Taissa Farmiga’s Zoe earlier this season that the singer was, “Stevie Nicks. The White Witch. The only witch before you I’ve ever known.”

When we got to this witch idea, I thought, if you’re Misty and you have grown up alone and you don’t know any other witches, there’s one witch you probably would know and that’s Stevie Nicks,” Murphy, himself a fan of the singer, explained to Entertainment Weekly. “So I called Stevie Nicks and first I said, ‘I want to use you in the show.’ But she was very resistant because from the beginning of her career people who are in the Wiccan community had given her a hard time thinking she was a witch and she got a lot of scary fan letters. She didn’t like the darkness of that, and I explained to her the part and she’s like, ‘Aw fuck, let’s just do it. OK, I love it.’”

American Horror Story: Coven airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
