Steven Universe Movie Gets Trailer, Release Date

The first footage from the upcoming Steven Universe film was shown at Comic-Con International in San Diego 2019, where the release date for the next installment in the popular animated series was also revealed.

The movie will air September 2 on Cartoon Network. The trailer starts with an older Steven spending quality time with his friends when a new foe comes to town: the mysterious gem with an upside down diamond. The stakes of the movie are clear, as this new gem is attempting to destroy all organic life on Earth. The clip also features a sneak peek at a new song, sung by Estelle, who voices Garnet.

The official logline reads: “Steven thinks his time defending the Earth is over, but when a new threat comes to Beach City, Steven faces his biggest challenge yet.”

Steven Universe debuted on cartoon network in 2013 and follows the adventures of Steven Universe and the Crystal Gems Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl as they protect the inhabitants of Beach City, all while trying to understand the strange planet Earth around them and, evidently themselves.
