Steven Universe fans are perplexed by the character's apparent inclusion in the heavily rumored and recently leaked Warner Bros. Multiversus fighting game.

An image of the project's current character roster leaked to social media, highlighting a variety of obvious inclusions like Batman, Superman, Gandalf (The Lord of the Rings) and Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty). While these powerful beings seem like an easy fit for a platform fighter akin to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, characters like Shaggy (Scooby-Doo), Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes) and Tom and Jerry sent ripples through a variety of fandoms. Yet Steven Universe fans were the most confused, taking to social media to express how bizarre it will be to see the shield-wielding cartoon character slug it out with Harley Quinn.

While Warner Bros. Multiversus has yet to be officially announced, a recent string of leaks and insider reports have all but confirmed the game's existence. The crossover platform fighter is pulling on a variety of characters from the publisher's vast catalog of intellectual properties, inspired by the success of games like Brawlhalla and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The game will supposedly feature a Tag Team system, allowing players to build squads of characters with synergistic abilities.

The recently leaked image contains hints as to what these abilities may entail. In the upper right corner of each character's portrait, symbols can be found; These include a sword, a closed fist, a shield, a rocket and a set of wings with a halo. It's currently unknown what each of these icons represents but they likely indicate what kind of a role a fighter will fill. Steven Universe is marked with wings and halo, suggesting he may function as some kind of healer.
