Though the U.S. version of The Office ended in 2013 it's still extremely popular. While on Netflix it was constantly one of the top five streaming shows. People still refer to their favorite episodes and characters.

The workers at Dunder Mifflin were portrayed by a group of skilled actors. Not only did they work well at situational comedy but they also turned their talents toward voice acting. Several of them have worked in animated TV shows and movies just as popular as The Office.

10 Steve Carell Is The Ultimate Gru

Gru standing in front of the Moon in Despicable Me Cropped

Steve Carell has gone beyond comedy since he played the sweet but somewhat embarrassing Michael Scott on The OfficeHe stars in programs like The Morning Show and movies like The Big Short. Nevertheless, his most memorable role outside The Office is as a villain turned father of three girls.

That criminal is Gru, the bald genius of the Despicable Me movie series. With an accent of undetermined origin, Carell gives Gru a sweetness that counteracts his villainy in the first movie and his gradual switch to being (mostly) good by the third.

9 Rainn Wilson Takes On The Voice Of Lex Luthor

Rainn Wilson took on Lex Luthor in the New 52 DC movies.

For years, prolific voice actor Clancy Brown was the go-to choice to play Lex Luthor in the DC Animated Universe. However, as those movies and series tackled the New 52 era of heroes, producers went with another actor to voice the entrepreneurial criminal. That was Rainn Wilson, the man who hilariously played Dwight Schrute on The Office.

There's a little bit of Dwight in how Wilson portrays Luthor in movies like Reign of the Supermen and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. It's the character's sense of being comfortable in his own skin. However, unlike Dwight, Wilson's Luthor is more sarcastic. While not played for laughs, it makes the character more human.

8 Mindy Kaling Does Kelly Kapoor For "Inside Out"

Amy Poehler is the team leader in "Inside Out."

Mindy Kaling's role as Kelly Kapoor was a learning tool for her later voice work. Besides Ryan, Kelly didn't love too much about her co-workers. In fact, she was disgusted by everything around her.

This is why Kaling was perfect for the role of Disgust in Pixar's excellent Inside Out. Overall, the role of the main character's antipathy was a transfer of Kelly's persona into a child's mind.

7 Phyllis Smith Also Played A Role In "Inside Out"

Joy and Sadness in Inside Out.

Inside Out features another actor from The Office: Phyllis Smith. As Phyllis Vance on the show, Smith has a motherly persona. However, she fights back— in a passive-aggressive way, at least— if attacked.

In the Pixar movie, Smith portrays Sadness. In fact, the way she looks in the film is nearly the same as the actress is in real life. Except for the blue skin and the constant expressions of dread, that is.

6 Ed Helms Voiced The Once-Ler In "The Lorax"

Among Helms' voices is the Once-ler of "The Lorax."

There's something about Ed Helm's voice that exudes both positivity and maliciousness. At the start of his run on The Office, Helms played Andy Bernard as a callous individual. Of course, he became a more sympathetic character as the show progressed.

The opposite happened when he voiced the Once-Ler in the computer-generated movie adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic The Lorax. There, he exuded nothing but happiness while trying to sell his Thneed. However, as the Once-Ler became more successful, his smile became a sneer while he removed all the trees to keep up with the public's needs.

5 Ellie Kemper Started Her Voice Work On "Sofia The First"

Kemper portrayed the dragon named Crackle in "Sofia the First."

Between her role as Erin on The Office and Kimmy Schmidt in her own series, Ellie Kemper dabbled in other endeavors. One of those was as a voice for the popular Disney Junior series Sofia the First. In 10 episodes, Kemper played Crackle, a small blue dragon that was the pet of Princess Vivian.

Unlike her roles as Erin and Kimmy, Kemper didn't go for the quiet with this character. Instead, Crackle is outgoing, loud, and hyperactive. Though she loves Vivian, she connects more with Sofia and her pet rabbit Clover.

4 Craig Robinson's Voice Work Is In The "Family Guy" Universe

Robinson's voice work is in the "Family Guy" universe.

Actor Craig Robinson didn't play an enormous role as Darryl in the first seasons of The Office. However, as the show progressed, his role became bigger. The reward for his character's persistence was the creation of his own successful company at the end of the show's run.

Meanwhile, Robinson himself was given additional roles, a few them as voices in the Family Guy universe of shows. In particular, he voiced LeVar "Freight Train" Brown, the father of Cleveland Brown on The Cleveland Show. Robinson portrays him as a man who doesn't seem to respect his son. Yet, there are moments where he softens up.

3 BJ Novak Entered The World Of "The Smurfs" As Baker Surf

On The Office, Novak's character, Ryan, quickly moved up the ladder at Dunder Mifflin. Once there, he became quite the jerk to former girlfriend Kelly and previous boss Michael. His rise was extinguished as fast after he was arrested for fixing the books.

Novak didn't voice such a scrupulous character in the CGI version of The Smurfs. Instead, he portrayed Baker Smurf, a gentleman who was happy baking fine desserts for all his smurfy friends and family.

2 Oscar Nunez Went Military In "3Below: Tales Of Arcadia"

Nunez voiced a character in a Netflix animated series

While playing Oscar on The Office, actor Oscar Nunez wasn't one to be too boastful. He was a quiet character willing to help others when needed. Especially his friend Kevin.

That's why it's somewhat of a surprise that he voiced the character of Sergeant Costas in the Nexflix series 3Below: Tales of Arcadia. Then again, his portrayal of the non-comm is supportive and well-meaning. He comes to the aid of the aliens seeking shelter on Earth as his superior becomes a turncoat and supports the enemy.

1 Kate Flannery Voices A Superhero In "OK K.O! Let's Be Heroes"

Flannery is the opposite of Meredith in this CN show

Meredith Palmer, the character played by Kate Flannery on The Office, does not understand scruples. She drinks and is inappropriate at work and at home. So, her voice role as a former superhero in Cartoon Network's OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes is a definite change of pace.

In the show, Flannery is Carol Kincaid, the mother of the main character. Before that, she was Silver Spark of the superhero team P.O.I.N.T. It's why Carol is willing to let her son try to become a superhero on his own, even if it means busting heads to do so.
