Archer goes into a fugue after his mother is married and gets married to Linda Belcher. Archer goes by the name Bob, acting as the stepfather to Tina, Gene, and Louise.

It is only when KGB agents come to the restaurant that Archer's true past is revealed. He kills the agents to the surprise of Linda and the kids.

9 Tried To Join the Army When Younger But got Kicked Out

Before becoming an agent, Archer tried to join the army. There is a chance he could have made it, but his mother told the drill sergeant a lie. She told the drill sergeant that Archer was gay, something that could get a person kicked out.

Don't expect to learn more about the book from the book blurb, as Archer sarcastically claims the table of content offers more help. The book blurb also demands readers to buy the book, as Archer says he needs the royalties and that this isn't a library.

This can be seen throughout the series, as Archer does things his own way. One character named Brett falls victim to this, usually being shot by Archer. It is during a raid that Archer yells over to Brett, distracting him and causing him to be shot in the head.

It is revealed that Archer once liked alligators, even receiving one as a gift from his real father. The reason why he does not like crocodiles is also revealed, with Archer saying they are too similar to alligators.

4 Archer Was Born In A Bar In Morocco

Like every good character, Archer has an interesting backstory. His mother was pregnant with him while she was on a mission in Tangiers, Morocco. She stumbled into Reggie's Bar, where she was assisted in the birth by Woodhouse. Woodhouse also assisted by killing enemy assailants during the birth as well.

Woodhouse would then sell the bar and buy a boat to bring Archer and his mother back to the United States. Woodhouse would then continue to be their assistant, with Woodhouse raising Archer.

3 Archer's Codename Of 'Duchess' Comes From His Mother's Dog

It is revealed in the series that Archer's codename is actually Duchess. He says he did not pick it out himself, but instead his mother did. What fans might not have know is that his mother's dog was also named Duchess.

Archer's mother will never admit his codename comes from the dog, instead saying it was randomly assigned from the database. Either it is an extreme coincidence, or his mother is lying.

2 Archer's Dreamland Persona Was A War Hero, Despite Never Being Promoted

After Archer is put into a coma, he dreams he is a detective in 1940s Los Angeles. The backstory for this persona is that he was a World War II hero who stormed the beaches of Normandy and made it all the way to Berlin. During the war, he received the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, the Croix de Guerre with Palm, as well as many other awards.

It is also revealed that he turned down a promotion to become a 2nd lieutenant. Instead of being promoted in the army, the dream persona of Archer leaves the same rank he enters, a private.

1 Archer's Danger Island Persona Fought In The Spanish Civil War

Archer again develops another dream persona, this time being a pilot. This version of him fought in the Spanish Civil War on the Republican side against the German Condor Legion. It was during this war that Danger Island Archer also lost his eye, with it being shot by another pilot.

Later in the season, Archer runs into Ziegler, his archenemy from the war. Ziegler was responsible for shooting Archer down 5 times, even being the one to shoot out his eye. Luckily, Archer was able to get his revenge, shooting down Ziegler in a dogfight.
