A new clip from the upcoming Justice League film shows Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) in action, and things do not go well for the DC Comics superhero team.

The clip, which comes you can check out below, starts with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Batman (Ben Affleck) dispatching a parademon. The team then turns their attention to Steppenwolf, with Cyborg (Ray Fisher) taking control of Batman's Nightcrawler. Steppenwolf grabs one of the missiles that Cyborg fires at him out of the air and uses one to flood the tunnel. As the team flees, Aquaman (Jason Momoa) tries to hold back the tide.

Steppenwolf appeared in a deleted scene for 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In July, Hinds indicated that he'd never actually met the cast members playing his enemies, as his performance was entirely motion-capture.

Created by Jack Kirby, Steppenwolf was introduced in 1972's New Gods #7. The villain is inhumanly strong and nigh invincible, having survived an encounter with Doomsday, who was able to kill Superman. The uncle of Darkseid, he's an esteemed general in the army of Apokolips.
