When last we heard from director Stephen Sommers, he was dropping out of -- or maybe fired from -- the planned sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. However, it looks as if he landed on his feet.

ShockTillYouDrop reports Sommers will direct Star Trek and Terminator Salvation star Anton Yelchin in Odd Thomas, an adaptation of the popular series of thrillers by Dean Koontz.

Yelchin will play the title character, a 20-year-old short-order cook who can see the spirits of the dead. Odd's first adventure, in the 2003 novel Odd Thomas, involves finding the killer of a young girl and averting the disaster that threatens the small desert town of Pico Mundo, Calif. The character appeared in three sequels -- Forever Odd, Brother Odd and Odd Hours -- and two graphic-novel prequels.

The 21-year-old Yelchin, who also appeared in Alpha Dog and Charlie Bartlett, stars as Charley Brewster in DreamWorks' upcoming remake of Fright Night.
