Leigh will take on the role of the young college graduate Susan Norton who dreams of leaving town to follow her ambitions, while Camp will play high school teacher Matt Burke with whom Susan develops a romantic relationship. Leigh, Camp and Clark will star alongside Lewis Pullman who will portray the film's protagonist, Ben Mears. Viewers may recognize Leigh from Gotham on Fox, while Camp can be seen in Netflix's The Queen's Gambit. Clark's notable performances include M. New Line Cinema announced back in 2019 that the new Salem's Lot film will be adapted for the screen by Gary Dauberman, the writer of both It and It Chapter Two, who will be taking up directorial duties in addition to writing the script.

Based on the 1975 novel by Stephen King, Salem's Lot follows writer Ben Mears who returns to his small hometown of Jerusalem's Lot after 25 years in an attempt to help him finish writing his new book. Upon becoming entangled in the lives of strange and familiar faces, Ben seeks inspiration for his new novel by returning to the abandoned Marsten House, which haunted him as a child after witnessing a hanging ghost. Then, when an immigrant named Kurt Barlow opens up an antique furniture store in town with his business partner Richard Staker, strange vampirish happenings begin to occur.

New Line's upcoming Salem's Lot film is not the novel's only adaptation, however. The book was initially adapted by Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hooper as a two-part television series in 1979. The television adaption received nominations for three Primetime Emmy Awards, with a two-hour cut later being released in theaters. Another television adaptation starring Rob Lowe also aired on TNT in 2004. Salem's Lot has since gone down as one of King's most recognizable works.

Salem's Lot currently does not have a confirmed release date at the time of writing.
