Stephen Dorff Tracks Down 'Leatherface'

"Immortals" actor Stephen Dorff has landed a lead role in "Leatherface," Millennium Films' prequel to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," Bloody Disgusting reports. Deadline has confirmed the casting.

Directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury from a script by former CBR contributor Seth M. Sherwood, the film centers on a violent teen who escapes a mental hospital with two other inmates, kidnaps a girl and sets off on a hellish road trip. Dorff will play Hal Hartman, a Texas Ranger with a vendetta against the teen.

When "EastEnders" actor Sam Strike was cast earlier this month, it was presumed he'll play the future Leatherface, but Bloody Disgusting indicates there's a mystery element to the story, as the audience tries to figure out which young psychopath grows up to be the iconic killer. Strike plays Jackson, while relative newcomer James Bloor has been cast as Ike.

Filming is set to get under way May 18.
