While it may seem like every Marvel Cinematic Universe character is appearing in Avengers: Endgame, one noteworthy actor who has played a role in multiple movies has confirmed he won't be in the film.
In an interview with Metro, Stellan Skarsgard, who plays Erik Selvig in the MCU, confirmed he would not make an appearance in Avengers: Endgame, saying, "No I’m not. I’ve done four [Marvel films] and they have me contracted for five and they haven’t called me yet."
Skarsgard played Selvig in Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron. While many were left wondering what became of Selvig following his recovery from the Mind Stone, it appears we won't get the answer to those question in Endgame. However, as there remains one film in Skarsgard contract, he could still make an appearance in the future, potentially in a film like Thor 4.
Contradicting canon material, footage from Endgame revealed Selvig did not survive the snap. However, it seems unlikely those who were turned to dust by Thanos will remain dead for long.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie. The film arrives April 26.
