Steins;Gate is a thriller/sci-fi anime that heavily tackles the subject of future and alternate realities. We're not going to beat around the bush, this show is an absolute banger. If you watched at least two anime shows in your life, then chances are you’ve heard of this anime. And if you’ve watched it then you loved it, there is no other possibility.

That put aside, in every single anime there’s at least one character that the fans just don’t like. And Steins;Gate, like its counterparts, has its own share of not-so-loved characters. Note that not every character included in this list is 100% despised by the public. Only some of their actions might be hated.

10 Rintarou Okabe

Rintarou Okabe, or Hououin Kyouma as he prefers to be called, is the main protagonist of the series and a self-proclaimed mad scientist.

Now don’t get me wrong, we all love Okabe. But we have to admit that many of his decisions during the first half of the series weren’t exactly the best. But then again it’s understandable. Many of us would do much worse if put in similar situations.

9 Kagari Shiina

Kagari Shiina is the adoptive daughter of Mayuri Shiina. Her childhood was beyond miserable. She lost her biological parents during world war III and was taken as an experimental test subject by Alexis Leskinin.

And when she traveled all the to the past, she once again fell to Leskinin’s schemes and was captured. Kagari was hypnotized throughout the entire period she served as an antagonist, so putting all the blame on her would be unjust.

8 Rounders

Not exactly a character, but an entire organization. The rounders were our protagonists’ main source of pain for most of season one. They are specially trained troops who work under SERN.

Their specialty ranges from abduction all the way to assassinations, nothing is too extreme if it was ordered by SERN. Most of the rounders were ‘rounded’ up by FB through unconventional means. They were previously either social outcasts or mentally unstable individuals.

7 Judy Reyes

If there was one thing that stands out about Steins;Gate then it’s the excess amount of plot twists. There are plot twists at every turn and at every episode, and it never gets boring.

Judy Reyes was the colleague of Alexis Leskinin and a research professor at Viktor chondria university. When she first debuted, she was fairly friendly with Okabe and the gang, till you guessed it, she turned out to be a bad guy or a bad girl in her case.

6 Nae Tennouji

Yes, I am dead serious, this little demon deserves a solid spot in this list. If you didn’t know who “Nae-chan” was, then let me introduce you. Nae Tennouji is the daughter of Yugo Tennouji, the big boss of the rounders.

The thing about Steins;Gate is that you can’t trust anyone, not even a little kid. In a certain alternate reality where her father commits suicide, she takes revenge on Okabe and Moeka. Seriously wounding Okabe and killing Moeka.

5 Moeka Kiryu

A certain aspect of Steins;Gate that never ceases to amaze us is how every antagonist in the show starts off as an ally, this also applies to Moeka Kiryu.

Moeka Kiryu, when introduced, was just a quirky anti-social woman who couldn’t communicate without her cellphone. But later on she comes out as a member of the rounders. She not only killed Mayuri Shiina once, but she did it multiple times

4 Yugo Tennouji

Yugo Tennouji debuted as Okabe’s landlord/neighbor and stayed that way for a long time, till of course, plot twist struck. None of us saw it coming, it just came.

If there was a top 10 Steins;Gate plot twists list, and there should be, Yugo’s identity would easily be in the top 3. Yugo Tennouji served as the main antagonist of the first season of the anime. He manipulated every event from the shadows.

3 Alexis Leskinin

Alexis Leskinin is a professor and researcher at Viktor chondria university’s brain institute. If Rintarou Okabe was a self-proclaimed mad scientist, then Alexis Leskinin is a genuine one.

He went as far as experimenting on orphaned children to achieve his motives. Alexis served as one of the main antagonists of Steins;Gate 0. And yes you guessed it once again, he started off as a friend.

2 Shouichi Makise

Now if there was one character in Steins;Gate that deserves nothing other than hate, then it would be this man. Shouichi Makise, or publically known as Dr. Nakabachi, is a professor researching time travel and its many concepts.

He was later on revealed to be Kurisu’s father and murderer in one of the alternate realities. His reason for killing his daughter was jealousy, talk about terrible fathers.

1 SERN

SERN, or the European society for nuclear research, is an organization that serves as the main antagonist faction in Steins;Gate. Unlike the real-life version of SERN who explores world development, SERN in the series only desires one thing, which is world domination.

These mad lads would do anything for the sake of world domination. Killing, stealing, and abducting are all fair game.
