Static Shock aired in the early 2000s, but it is just as relevant as it was then as it is today.

Cowan took to Twitter to express his gratitude after a user posted a clip from the Season 1 episode "Sons of the Fathers," which quickly went viral. "Over 49k likes...I had no idea people felt this way...amazing," Cowan wrote. "A bright spot in a crazy world right now."

Based on the Milestone Media/DC Comics character created by Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Derek T. Dingle and Michael Davis, the show centered around African-American teen Virgil Hawkins (Phil LaMarr) who, after a freak accident, gains the power to manipulate electromagnetism.

"Sons of the Fathers" features Virgil spending the night at his friend Richie Foley's (Jason Marsden) house. However, Virgil learns that Richie's father is extremely racist when he makes several remarks about African Americans. When Richie is kidnapped by the villain Ebon, Static, Mr. Foley and Mr. Hawkins have to work together to save him.

The show was no stranger to tackling social issues, including gun violence. However, this episode still resonates with fans, especially with current events in the world.

All four seasons of Static Shock are currently available to stream on DC Universe.
