Having debuted on both DC Universe and The CW two weeks ago, the first season of Stargirl is slowly telling the story of how series protagonist Courtney Whitmore grows into the role of a superhero as the eponymous Stargirl, in addition to battling the Injustice Society and forming a new Justice Society of America.

According to series creator and showrunner Geoff Johns, who is also the character's original co-creator in the comics, the first season will not only tell a complete story, but also set up a possible second season for the show.

During an interview with CBR, Johns was asked if Season 1 of Stargirl either had a full ending with a tease of future events or a more cliffhanger-style conclusion.

"Season 1 definitely tells a story, but like every good comic book, it sets up what's next, you know?" Johns replied. "We finished shooting last year and we finished our post before the pandemic, so our 13 episodes are complete and we were lucky to get it all done. Yeah, it tells a complete story, but obviously that leads us to so many more and hopefully we'll get to tell them. I hope so. Again, the reaction has been so nice, so fingers crossed they tell us to do it again because everyone had so much fun."

DC Universe's Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl) and Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan (S.T.R.I.P.E.). The series airs Mondays on DC Universe and Tuesdays on The CW at 8 pm ET/PT.
