Stargirl fans should keep a close eye on Justin the Janitor.

Over the DC Universe original's first three episodes, Justin has lurked silently in the halls of Blue Valley High School. In "Icicle," he could be seen cleaning up the fallout from Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E.'s battle against Brainwave, which shattered the school's sign. However, there's a good reason to keep an eye on him, if Geoff Johns and Lee Moder's Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. comic book series is anything to go by.

In the comics, Justin is actually Sir Justin, aka Shining Knight, a member of the Seven Soldiers of Victory. During a battle with Nebula Man, the team was blasted back to different points in time, with the original Star-Spangled Kid landing 50,000 years in the past and Stripesy ending up in ancient Egypt. They were ultimately rescued by the Justice Society of America and brought back to the JSA's present, but the ordeal gave Sir Justin amnesia. Eventually, he was lost, with many assuming he had returned to his original time period: the Arthurian era.

Unfortunately for Sir Justin, that was not the case. He ended up at Blue Valley High, with his amnesia and a new job as janitor. There he stayed, until a fight between Courtney Whitmore's Star-Spangled Kid and the Dragon King's daughter Shiv shook him out of his reverie. The sight of the battle restored his memories -- and just in time, at that. As Shining Knight once more, he was able to rescue his flying horse Victory and help Star-Spangled Kid and S.T.R.I.P.E. against the Dragon King's machinations.

Asked if Stargirl's Justin the Janitor has potential to become a hero in his own right, Johns told CBR, "I don't want to spoil that, because clearly, the number of people that have watched the show or are watching the show way outnumbers the people who have read the comics. So I don't want to spoil it, but yeah, the comics, obviously, that's where we take our lead from."

Of course, Johns didn't confirm nor deny that Justin will have a larger role to play down the line, but he teased that the show is headed in that direction. It is unclear if Justin will reveal his true identity this season, or if he is Shining Knight at all. It is certainly possible he could even be another, recognizable JSA hero who has already been introduced on the series. Only time will tell.

DC Universe's Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl) and Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan (S.T.R.I.P.E.). The series airs Mondays on DC Universe and Tuesdays on The CW at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
