After officially making The CW its new home, the acclaimed superhero series Stargirl has confirmed its Season 2 premiere for this summer.

A short promo released by the network announces the premiere window as new footage features the teenage superhero battling a mysterious, green-lit opponent. The promo closes with Courtney Whitmore declaring to her stepfather Pat Dugan that being Stargirl is her destiny.

After airing on DC Universe and The CW last summer for its inaugural season, Stargirl was renewed for a second season on The CW as DC Universe shuttered its original programming. The first season was one of the most streamed shows on The CW's website and app after its premiere last May.

While details on Season 2 are still under wraps, the show's links to the Arrowverse will continue to grow, with John Wesley Shipp reprising his role as Jay Garrick in a flashback to his membership on the Justice Society of America. The superhero team will similarly add a new recruit this coming season with Alkoya Brunson portraying the electric hero Jakeem Thunder.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl), Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan (S.T.R.I.P.E.), Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton (Starman), Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez (Wildcat), Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel (Dr. Mid-Nite), Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler (Hourman), Joy Osmanski as Ms. Brooks (Tigress), Christopher James Baker as Dr. Henry King (Brainwave), Neil Jackson as Jordan Mahkent (Icicle), Nelson Lee as Dr. Ito (Dragon King), Neil Hopkins as Lawrence Crock (Sportsmaster), Jonathan Cake as The Shade, Nick Tarabay as Eclipso and Jim Gaffigan as the voice of Thunderbolt. Season 2 premieres Summer 2021 on The CW.
