While most of the Arrowverse series airing on The CW have already been renewed, the fate of Stargirl beyond its second season remains uncertain.

The series is described as "on the bubble," according to USA Today. The CW had already renewed the series for a second season, set to air later this year. The show's first season aired in 2020, with each of its 13 episodes first streaming on DC Universe before airing on The CW the following day.

The CW has already announced that Superman & Lois, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman have been renewed. The network announced the cancellation of Supergirl last year, and the show is currently airing its sixth and final season. Black Lightning has also been canceled by the network, with that series now airing its fourth and final season.

Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl, first appeared in a cameo at the end of The CW's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event, setting the stage for the subsequent series.

The character was first created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, and initially appeared in her civilian guise in 1999's Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #0. Johns and David S. Goyer then created her superhero identity Stargirl, first appearing in 2003's JSA: All Stars #4.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl), Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan (S.T.R.I.P.E.), Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton (Starman), Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez (Wildcat), Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel (Dr. Mid-Nite), Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler (Hourman), Joy Osmanski as Ms. Brooks (Tigress), Christopher James Baker as Dr. Henry King (Brainwave), Neil Jackson as Jordan Mahkent (Icicle), Nelson Lee as Dr. Ito (Dragon King), Neil Hopkins as Lawrence Crock (Sportsmaster), Jonathan Cake as The Shade, Nick Tarabay as Eclipso and Jim Gaffigan as the voice of Thunderbolt. Season 2 premieres Summer 2021 on The CW.
