WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for "Icicle," the latest episode of Stargirl.

Stargirl just teased the introduction of two new Justice Society of America members that previously were not revealed in the marketing material.

Ahead of Stargirl's debut, DC Universe made it abundantly clear through a series of promotional images that the series would introduce a new generation of JSA -- specifically, Stargirl, Wildcat, Doctor Midnite and Hourman. However, the latest episode, "Icicle," teased the arrival of a new Green Lantern, and Thunderbolt's new host, as well.

The episode saw Stargirl come face-to-face with Jordan Mahkent, aka Icicle, for the first time. Unfortunately, the ensuing conflict took a dark turn when one of Courtney's classmates was killed in the fallout. To cheer Courtney up but also hammer home the risk she takes when she suits up, Pat Dugan took her to JSA headquarters, which became a shrine to the heroes after they were killed.

Each late JSA member was remembered by a portrait and a pedestal featuring their costumes and weapons. Pat used the trip to point out that the team, which was considered the best of the best, couldn't even stop the Injustice Society in their prime. As such, he told Courtney they were done being Blue Valley's resident heroes for the time being.

Courtney, of course, had other ideas. Using the Cosmic Staff, she returned later with a bag. She took the JSA's gear, including Green Lantern's lantern and a pink pen called the Thunderbolt, which Pat described as "the most dangerous thing in here." As she exited, she turned to the Staff with a smile. "Let's go do some recruiting," she said, causing the Staff to swoop with delight.

In the comics, several different characters have taken up the Green Lantern mantle. Following Stargirl's Green Lantern Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz all joined the Green Lantern Corps. Realistically, any one of these characters could be Scott's successor, although Baz seems most likely of all. After all, Baz was created by artist Doug Mahnke and writer Geoff Johns, who co-created both the Stargirl character and her TV series.

Johnny Thunder also had a successor in a young man named Jakeem Williams. He received Johnny's pink pen by accident, later discovering the "genie" inside: Thunderbolt, a creature from the 5th dimension. A reluctant hero, Jakeem took up the name Jakeem Thunder. He was invited into the JSA by Courtney and became friends with Rick Tyler, aka Hourman, who also appears on the DC Universe series.

At the time of writing, it is unclear if Stargirl will introduce either or both of these characters. At the very least, their debut was certainly teased, what with Courtney bringing their gear back to Blue Valley. It is certainly possible their inclusion was held back as a surprise for viewers, or they may be introduced in a future season. For now, though, it looks very likely they will be involved in the show in some capacity.

DC Universe's Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl) and Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan (S.T.R.I.P.E.). The series airs Mondays on DC Universe and Tuesdays on The CW at 8 pm ET/PT.
