Over the course of Season 1, Stargirl introduced a number of villains. Among them is the reptilian Dragon King, a sadistic scientist portrayed by Nelson Lee (Blade: The Series.) It turns out that the Dragon King could have sounded extremely different.

During a Zoom call with several Stargirl cast members, Lee revealed his original take on the Dragon King's voice. Lee initially adopted a raspy voice but admitted that, after a couple of takes, showrunner Geoff Johns and the cast asked him to take it in a different direction.

"I was like, 'Yeah! I'm going to get to keep this!'" Lee recalled. "And then after a couple of more takes, I see Geoff, the director — everyone walked towards me and I'm like, 'I'm about to lose the voice.'" Lee would ultimately go with a soft-spoken yet menacing approach to the Dragon King's vocals.

The Dragon King is the alter ego of Dr. Shiro Ito, who began his experiments in World War II. His work left him with a reptilian visage befitting his namesake. In the present day, he and the Injustice Society have embarked upon a new plan. He is also the father of Cindy Burman/Shiv, Stargirl's archnemesis.

DC Universe's Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl) and Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan (S.T.R.I.P.E.). The series airs Monday on DC Universe and Tuesdays on The CW at 8 pm ET/PT. It also stars Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Cameron Gellman, Trae Romano, Jake Austin Walker, Hunter Sansone, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson and Christopher James Baker.
