The Season 2 finale of The CW's Stargirl brought a major DC character into the Arrowverse. The post-credits scene features the first full look at Robert Todd, aka Mister Bones. His name was dropped in an earlier episode when Courtney and Pat were searching for Jenni/Jade's brother Todd (aka Obsidian), which landed them at a center for troubled youths. Bones didn't appear, but he was contacted over the phone by one of the facility's nurses.RELATED: Stargirl Suffered a Fate Worse Than Death in the Shadow Lands

Mister Bones was created by Roy Thomas, Dann Thomas and Todd McFarlane, debuting in 1985's Infinity, Inc. #16. The character was originally a second-tier supervillain who operated as part of Helix, but his popularity led to DC turning him into a full-fledged member of Infinity, Inc. He'd later go on to serve in the DEO (as seen on Supergirl), and upon reaching the role of Regional Director of the Eastern Seaboard, he was renamed Director Bones.

Stargirl was ordered to series in 2018 and premiered on DC Universe in May 2020. The show centers on teenager Courtney Whitmore, who become Stargirl after discovering the former Starman's Cosmic Staff. With the eventual help of her stepfather Pat Dugan, she forms a new Justice Society of America, consisting of herself, S.T.R.I.P.E., Wildcat, Hourman and Doctor Mid-Nite. Together, they take on the Injustice Society of America, whose ranks include Icicle, Brainwave, Solomon Grundy, Wizard, Sportsmaster, Tigress and Gambler. Season 2, which shifted from the now-defunct DC Universe to The CW, also brought such characters as The Shade, Eclipso, Thunderbolt, Jakeem Thunder, Jade and the Golden Age Flash into the fold.

In May, The CW renewed Stargirl for Season 3. "We are beyond proud to continue to share the stories of Nicky Shen and Courtney Whitmore, two strong, powerful young women at the center of this new generation of hit shows for The CW in Kung Fu and DC's Stargirl," The CW Network Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mark Pedowitz said. "While each boasts remarkable talent on both sides of the camera, Kung Fu and DC's Stargirl have not only treated fans to some visually stunning action and high-flying heroics, but they also both strike very powerful emotional chords as they delve into the family dynamics and personal relationships at their core, and we are so excited to see what happens next."
