WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Stargirl Season 2, Episode 11, "Summer School: Chapter 11," which aired Tuesday October 19th on the CW.

Eclipso is no force to bargain with. Even when he poses as a friend who'll assist in another person's goals, he always has an ulterior motive -- a detail Cindy Burman learned the hard way.

Throughout Stargirl Season 2, Cindy dreamed of getting revenge against Courtney Whitmore for shaking up the comfortable status quo she was accustomed to in Blue Valley. This included Courtney's successful dismantling of the ISA (where Cindy's father, Dragon King, was a member), which coincided with Cindy's own withdrawal from school in Season 1. She worked behind the scenes to make her plans for revenge a reality, even recruiting the kids of the mostly deceased ISA members into forming a new ISA.

Cindy knew she couldn't go against Courtney's powerful cosmic staff without a power source of her own. She, therefore, attempted to exploit Eclipso's power as a counterbalance. Eclipso, however, had plans of his own and decided to play the long game until the moment was right for him to finally make his escape from the black diamond that kept him imprisoned. He manipulated Cindy by exploiting her negative emotions until he got her to the right place at the right time with the right people. In the end, Eclipso played Cindy and once he got what he wanted, he disposed of her by transporting her to the Shadow Lands.

Episode 11 follows up on what Cindy has been up to since being transported to the Shadow Lands and finds her darker and meaner than before. In a place where she keeps encountering her past traumas, regrets and fears on repeat, Cindy has grown accustomed to killing her hatred to the point where she no longer questions her reality. When Courtney herself ends up in the Shadow Lands and encounters Cindy, the latter is genuinely surprised to see her there. However, things aren't exactly rosy between them.

Jenny's eyes glow green with power in Stargirl

In the real world, Courtney's family seeks The Shade's help in getting Courtney back from the Shadow Lands. The Shade successfully opens a portal between worlds and locates Courtney. The latter, however, chooses not to leave the Shadow Lands by herself. Courtney also helps Cindy and the original Dr. Mid-Nite, Charles McNider, escape as well.

While Courtney and Cindy aren't suddenly best friends for life after one successful rescue, Cindy does at least feel indebted to Courtney for getting her out of the Shadow Lands. As such, she joins -- perhaps temporarily -- Courtney's JSA in order to kill Eclipso for his betrayal. Cindy, however, isn't the only person joining Courtney's JSA in that effort. Jennie-Lynn Hayden is joining as well, even though she hasn't been directly impacted by Eclipso's reign of terror. At least, not yet.

Though Jennie-Lynn's appearances on Stargirl have been pretty scarce throughout Season 2, she is still an important JSA legacy heroine. As the biological daughter of the JSA's original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, she's the only person who can control the power of green flame that resides within Alan's power ring. Since she's also looking for her twin brother, Todd Rice, he too may be an important player in Eclipso's defeat. If the show's version of Todd is anything like his comic book counterpart, he too has shadow-based powers, which means he may be the only JSA legacy hero with the power to re-imprison Eclipso within the black diamond.

Stargirl airs Tuesdays on the CW.
