The first photos of John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick on Stargirl have arrived, giving fans a glimpse of the Justice Society of America's Flash.
Entertainment Weekly has the look at Shipp's guest appearance on Stargirl, which is also the ninth episode of The CW series' second season. Episode 9 is a flashback episode airing Oct. 5 and features the original JSA together in all of their heroic glory. Joining Shipp in the flashback are Pat (Luke Wilson), Starman (Joel McHale), Johnny Thunder (Ethan Embry), Hourman (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) and Wildcat (Brian Stapf).
While we see the JSA in their superhero costumes, we are also teased with someone's death, as the teammates are dressed in suits mourning over a gravesite after a battle with Eclipso. As for who the deceased is, that remains a mystery for now. Eclipso is one of the major bad guys in Stargirl Season 2, though he obviously terrorized the JSA in the past as well.
John Wesley Shipp originally joined the Arrowverse when he took up the role of Barry Allen's father, Henry, on The Flash. After Henry's death, Shipp then played the Earth-2 speedster Jay Garrick. Thanks to the events of "Crisis on Infinite Earths," Shipp can now portray Garrick on The Flash as well as Stargirl, with news of the crossover dropping in February.
Stargirl Season 2 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
