There are many villains featured in Stargirl, but the monstrously powerful zombie Solomon Grundy has been noticeably absent, imprisoned and away from the battles all season long. Brec Bassinger, who plays the eponymous Stargirl, has now confirmed that Grundy will be a part of the season finale showdown, with the entirety of both teams fighting it out -- and that it will have been well worth the wait.

In an interview with TV Insider, Bassinger said, "Yeah, the fight is very epic. It just starts off where it's the full ISA against the full JSA in this iconic, epic battle, and everyone knows who everyone is. There's no secrets among this fight, and there's a lot of payoff. You see Solomon Grundy again, you see Shiv again, you get to see lots of people."

While Solomon Grundy has been kept on the proverbial sidelines, locked away in Dragon King's lair, he has still been a major part of the story from day one. Grundy was with the Injustice Society of America when the team of villains killed the original Justice Society of America, and his connection to the new Hourman has been an important storyline.

In the episode "Hourman and Dr. Mid-Nite", Rick Tyler learns that Solomon Grundy is responsible for his parents' death. His father Rex Tyler investigated the ISA and Solomon Grundy was sent to kill him to keep their evil plan hidden.

When Rick took on the mantle of Hourman, he swore a vendetta against the monster, one that has put the team at risk. In the episode "Brainwave Jr.", Rick goes off-mission in an attempt to break Solomon Grundy out of his prison and exact revenge. From Bassinger's statements, that heavyweight match-up is likely to happen.
