With the Justice Society of America confirmed to play a major role in DC Universe's upcoming original series Stargirl, creator Geoff Johns has hinted that the presence of two of the Golden Age team's co-founders will be felt: Alan Scott and Jay Garrick.

The Golden Age Green Lantern and Flash have both been confirmed as part of the original JSA in the series, and while their legacies will loom over the new generation of superheroes, they may play even more prominent roles in the future.

"[Green Lantern and Flash] are spoken of and they exist in the JSA. There's a picture of them in the first episode, and there's plans in the future for things, but Jay Garrick and Alan Scott, to me, are always the elderly statesmen," Johns told IGN. "They're the big heroes of the JSA and their shadow is very long and they're great characters. They are a part of the original JSA and their legacies will be felt throughout the show. I don't want to spoil too much about it, but I can leave it at that."

Green Lantern and The Flash founded the original incarnation of the JSA with other Golden Age heroes including Hourman and The Spectre in 1940's All-Star Comics #3, by Gardner Fox, Everett E. Hibbard and Sheldon Mayer. Since then, Alan Scott and Jay Garrick have served as the foundation of the team, ushering in new generations of heroes -- with Courtney Whitmore among them.
