The past few weeks have brought consistent updates about actors announced to play major parts in the upcoming DC Universe series Stargirl, specifically those attached to the Justice Society of America. As of Tuesday, we have even more information about characters who may be joining the show, several of whom have their own J.S.A. ties.

According to the That Hashtag Show, both Stargirl's mother, Barbara, and her step-father, Pat Dugan, will be joining the series. In the comics, Barbara married Pat Dugan and they moved from Los Angeles to Blue Valley, Nebraska, much to the frustration of Stargirl (also known as Courtney Whitmore). Pat is a superhero in his own right, having donned a robotic suit of his own design and gone by the aliases Stripesy and S.T.R.I.P.E. Both characters will be series regulars.

Courtney’s love interest is named “Max Kenner,” who is described as “a friendly, adorable and a nervous artist is who is still trying to figure out being a teenager.” Although he could just be a normal teenager, the fact that he has outside forces trying to take him down a dark path suggests he could be more than meets the eye.

Among the recurring cast is the Miller family, consisting of “Sean, Ali and Kerri.” Sean is described as a jock who owns a trophy shop that only sells first place trophies, while Ali is a soccer mom and the gym teacher at Courtney’s high school. Both parents are extremely proud of their daughter, Kerri, who is the star athlete of their school. It is possible that Sean and Ali may be Stargirl’s version of Johnathan Chambers and Libby Lawrence, also known as Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle, which would make their daughter Jesse Chambers (Jesse Quick).

Regarding the series' villains, “Scott Webber” is described as a vicious telepath who enjoys executing sinister and personal punishments when he isn’t a loving, supportive father to his son. There is also “Dr. Draven,” who is described as a disgruntled scientist who has a history of working outside moral and ethical guidelines. It is possible that Scott is the supervillain known as Brain Wave, who was a Golden Age JSA villain. Dr. Draven is likely the unsettling Johnny Sorrows, a villain that Geoff Johns created with writer David S. Goyer in 1999.

Finally, there is “Arthur Matlock,” who is described as a powerful man of body, mind and heart. There is a strong possibility that Arthur is Alan Scott, who was known as the Golden Age Green Lantern, a founding member of the original Justice Society.

DC Universe's Stargirl, starring Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl), Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton (Starman), Brian Stapf as Ted Grant (Wildcat), Lou Ferringo Jr. as Rex Tyler (Hourman), with Anjelika Washington, Yvette Monreal and Christopher James Baker as undisclosed DC characters, arrives in 2019.
