Stargirl lead Brec Bassinger detailed how her superhero suit was updated for the show's second season.

At a press conference attended by CBR and other outlets, Bassinger was asked about the changes to her costume for the upcoming season of Stargirl and how they made getting suited up much more bearable. "Oh, goodness. The Stargirl suit. I have a love-hate relationship with it," Bassinger said. "I really do love it, but then, you know, it has its flaws."

"When I came back for the second season, I’ll be straight honest. It didn’t fit. I was like, 'This isn’t going to work.' It wasn’t zipping up," Bassinger continued. "So, LJ, the costume designer, as well as our amazing wardrobe team, did some lovely fixes. Specifically, around the neck. It’s a turtleneck. And while it’s beautiful and creates great lines, it’s extremely tight. So much so it left a bruise on my neck. But I feel cool. ‘Cause I feel like superheroes should have, like, battle scars. So, my suit is just the cause of the battle scars. But they were able to just let some fabric out here and there. But my favorite thing we figured out in Season 2, which, it’s so small but it made such a big difference, is the socks. So, you can’t tell, but the socks, Luke, yes, I can tell you’re really interested. The socks..."

Luke Wilson, who plays Pat Dugan on the show, then chimed in and lamented his character's lack of a cool outfit. "I’m just thinking about how, you know, everybody gets to have these amazing suits whenever I’m in scenes with you guys," Wilson said. "You all look so cool. And even Mike Dugan has these great t-shirts with these cool graphics. And Pat Dugan’s got nothing. I mean, their idea of spiffing me up is giving me a Henley. But continue. Excuse me."

"My favorite thing is you have the coolest suit out of all of us. But filming-wise, you’re never actually in it, because it’s all visual effects," Bassinger said, alluding to the S.T.R.I.P.E. armor that Dugan wears, which is brought to life via CGI. "But looking at it, you have the coolest suit of us all."

Bassinger continued, detailing why the unseen socks are the best part of her new costume. "Back to the socks. They would always slip down. And we learned if we just cut them in half, I wore the red socks as leg warmers, and then I would just wear Nike socks underneath so they wouldn’t slip down anymore, ‘cause they were like leg warmers just under my boot," Bassinger revealed. "So that was the big lightbulb moment of Season 2 that actually made a big difference and saved us time on set."

Season 2 of DC's Stargirl premieres Aug. 10 on The CW.
