With Stardew Valley's 1.5 update, players gained the ability to explore a brand-new area called Ginger Island. For the first time, outside of mods, players got to see the Fern Islands -- a place only previously heard about through conversations with the people of Pelican Town. It spawned some great new lore and offered many new things to unlock, from crops to friendships and, more importantly, an extra farm.

Ginger Island's Farm is essentially another addition to the farm players already have, just located on a beautiful tropical island. Even though it's far away, it's handy because it acts like a second Greenhouse, allowing players to plant all crops year-round. This is a great addition since the island also introduces new crops, and players may be running out of space on their homestead. It does need to be unlocked first, though.

Where To Find Ginger Island's Secret Farm

The Turtle Parrot In Stardew Valley

The secret farm is located in the West area of the Island from the Southern Dock and will be blocked off by a turtle when players first arrive. To initiate the removal of this turtle, you'll have to talk to a little birdie. First, you'll need to introduce yourself to one of the Island's denizens, Leo. Afterward, you can visit his home located on the East side of the Island. Inside is a parrot the player can talk to, one of many across the island and part of the quest to open up the farm. By feeding it a Golden Walnut, a second parrot will appear by the turtle, which will need to be fed 10 more Golden Walnuts.

Golden Walnuts are hidden items that act as a sort of currency for unlocking things on the island. There is a set amount, and they are shared among players in a multiplayer game. Leo's parrot will give hints as to where many can be found and are generally found on the island. There are a few parrots around the Island that can be given these Walnuts to unlock various things and also help befriend Leo, but the parrot near the turtle is the one that will allow access to the Western area.

How to Build a Second Farm on Stardew Valley's Ginger Island

Stardew Valley Ginger Island Sleep Hut

At first, the area doesn't have much, with just a large plot of land for players to plant crops or trees. This means having to run back to the homestead to rest and sell crops. However, another parrot next to the remnants of a shack can be given 20 Walnuts to rebuild it. It will turn into a quaint little hut you can use for sleeping that also comes equipped with a kitchen and shipping bin. For another five Walnuts, you can get a mailbox too.

With everything together, it essentially becomes a second farm perfect for growing crops, and there are no crows to worry about either. It frees up more land on the main farm for animals, sheds or space to decorate while allowing players to collect money from crops or for making jams and wines year-round.
