Stardew Valley is still going strong, and this is thanks to the amount of content included in the original releases, as well as all the updates it's still receiving. While a lot of the interesting content is easily accessible -- you just need to know the where and when -- some are a little harder to come across or entirely random. For these events, players may find themselves as members of a unique band who have seen some incredibly unique and truly rare moments.

The events of Stardew Valley have always been pretty entertaining, and they can even earn you some items or boons to help around the farm. Whether you're trying for a unique item or just want to have a special moment with your favorite townsfolk, these moments are ones that players are sure to adore.

Children Coming Back to Haunt You

Stardew Valley can be a scary place.

This very spooky occurrence can happen after 'dismissing children' by offering a Prismatic Shard at the Dark Shrine of Selfishness in the Witch's Hut. They will turn into doves who fly above Stardew Valley but may also leave you with a few strange encounters. If you're playing on a regular farm, watching TV on the 26th of Fall will get you access to a strange channel and a The Ring-like event where you will receive an Ancient Doll. A doll can also be encountered around the Dark Shrine of Selfishness as a creepy enemy. If this event hasn't happened, the player may receive an eerie phone call like in a horror movie from time to time until it does.

The Strange Capsule

What could be inside the Strange Capsule?

After the first year, there is a very small chance (0.8%) to receive the Strange Capsule item. It will randomly spawn on your main farm overnight, and you'll know it appeared by a UFO sound. The capsule will have something in it, although it's unclear what it is. You can choose to keep it, but it will emit some light and whatever is inside may break out if you place it somewhere. If it does break, there is a 1% chance to see a strange creature after dark at the Bus Stop or in town by the bridge to the Beach. It is a rare event within a rare event, but it doesn't have any truly long-lasting implications on the game world.

The Sea Creature

The mysterious sea creature at the Beach

This is another random occurrence where the player may see a strange sea creature by the south docks near Willy's home. Part of getting this creature to appear is getting lucky with ocean water tiles. There must be nothing vertically within its spawn area. No rocks, seaweed or other random debris tiles, just pure water ones in a line. Even if this does happen, there is still a chance that it will appear, and after a short while, it will swim away. This same creature can also be seen during Krobus' 14 heart event, but this isn't random.

The Stone Owl

Rare Stone Owl Statue on the Farm

This is arguably one of the rarest events in the game. Like the strange capsule, an owl statue can randomly appear on your farm at a 0.5% chance. You'll know it has when you hear an owl sound effect play after going to bed. The next day, check your farm for it. This is a unique statue, different from the one purchased at the Night Market, and it cannot be moved. It has its own description and is a little mysterious looking. More than one can spawn if you're extra lucky.

The Witch & The Crop Fairy

A Witch visits the chicken coop.

These two events are similar in that they are random occurrences with the same chance of happening (1%) and that they both happen during the night once the player has gone to sleep. However, what they do affects the farm differently. The fairy can appear any time of the year except winter because she only affects crops; wild seeds don't count. If it's raining, nothing will happen other than her appearing, but if not, then she will fully grow one 5 by 5 area of your crops with her magic.

The Witch sounds bad, but she actually helps your farm too. She can visit your farm any time of the year provided you have a Coop, Slime Hutch or both. She'll turn any slimes inside into the black slime variety if she appears over the Slime Hutch. This is the only way to get them, making them one of the rarer varieties. If the Witch flies over the Coop, she'll leave a Void Egg for you. However, if you've completed Mr. Qi's Perfection Tracker (found in Qi's room on Ginger Island), you'll receive a Golden Egg instead. It can be incubated into a Golden Chicken that will produce more eggs or can be sold on its own for a high price.
